EG Soft Brake and Clutch pedals

My flatmate commented that my brake and clutch pedals felt rather soft. Sure enough compared to his FXGT and VR4, they are.

Tried bleeding the brakes/clutch (clutch was filthy, brakes were fine). No obvious improvement.

Are factory EG4 pedals just normally quite soft?

Are you sure your clutch master/slave cylinders are in good condition and have no slow leaks? I'd have thought filthy fluid in your clutch hydraulics would point to the possibility of a bad slave cylinder.

Compared to my old TX3i, I found my last EG4 pedals really soft as well. Would suggest a thorough maintenance check as the great Mr Shine suggested, but if everything is up to scratch and nothing is abnormal, everything operating ok, I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

No idea what state the master/slave is in but as it needs upgrading soon I'll just do that instead.

    Thanks guys.

you cant compare it to a FXGT or infact any other car bar another eg4.

yes they are normally very soft as they have a very low weighted pressure plate and a small 13/16th master cylinder.

none of this affects the way they work.

of course now that we've bled them, if I stomp hardish I get good response and feels ok. I gently, continuously press down and the foot just slowly heads to the floor with fuck all clamping happening...

    Air in the line(s)?

did you bleed them properly and more than once?

if it slowly goes to the floor it sounds like a rooted seal in the master cylinder

but why would the seal only rear its head after a bleed?

I wonder if we got out of sync at some point and let in some air. Will let a brake place sort it as I don't have time

Re: EG Soft Brake and Clutch pedals

how are you bleeding the brakes?

you can bleed the brakes properly with a friend in about 10 mins if you have the wheels off and about 30 if you need to take them off

wheels off, brake in, open valve, bleed, close valve, brake out, repeat.

LR, RR, LF, RF was the order
