    Smile Fit 2 x 100 watt spotlights . Find high beam wire .

    Hello all , newbe here , thanks for the welcome mail .
    I wanting to know if some one can help me connect up some spotlights on my Ascot innova 1992 .
    There are 3 wires running too the headlight bulbs which , left side
    red/blue stripe
    red/yellow stripe
    red black stripe

    Im hoping i can just earth spots and connect into the high beam wire , but dont know which of these three as mentioned .
    Any help would be great .

    I wouldn't hook your spotlights straight into your high beam circuit. An extra 200W (~16.6A) will blow the fuse.

    You *could* use the high beam wire at the headlight as your switched wire to the relay, but that's a pretty ugly way of doing it, especially if you want to be able to stop the spotlights coming on when high beam is going.

    A better option would be to track down the switched wire to the high beam relay at the steering column plug, and use a vampire connection to tap off that. Use that to switch your new spotlight relay (with or without a separate on/off spotlight switch), supply the relay with a fused 20A wire, then run the wire out to the new spotlights, then earth.
