    Dented exhaust

So my 4-1 extractors are quite badly dented (mugen copies or something), the muffler also has a few dents. Car has a slight Subaru sound at idle - turbulence in the exhaust?

Engine is a B18cr with cams (possibly toda), spoon camgears, apparently was tuned at speedfactor to 144kw (paper trail has been lost).

    pictures:

1 - How badly do you think this would affect performance?
2 - Is it worth repairing, and where can I take the extractors to be repaired?

As a mechanic by trade and from looking at your photos i would have to say that these dents wouldnt effect your performance a great deal, they havnt really reduced the ODI of the pipe that much. I wouldnt be in a hurry to have them repaired unless they are leaking. As for actualy having them repaired i wouldnt know who to refer you to sorry, in fact i dont know if they would even be repairable? hope this was at least some help.

I think your "subaru sound" will be coming from those headers (if they are dented or not), check out "zombines" build thread as he had some similar looking ones which he didnt like due to the sound they made

Yeah don't worry too much about the exhaust, when I had my civic the exhaust got dented up and it still flowed well and made good power

My ITR 4-1 headers had a similar dent at the bottom (possibly even a bit deeper than yours) and I felt the engine was being choked.

Took them to Dinh @ Spec2 and he tided it all up. Welded a new replacement plate on. Sounds less boxerish on idle, vtec sounds more aggressive and pulls much nicer now!

Didn't cost a heck of a lot. Just food for thought.

I'd agree, dyno test before and after dent fixed on the above pic would be stuff all!
Just my opinion, pretty hard to say on the net.
Maybe if it gained only a couple kw here and there, I wouldn't rush out to get it fixed.

And that dented resonator won't be causing any issues, just maybe less sound dampening?

Fuck 4-1 headers. Dented my brand new ones a day after installing them. Mine's dented worse than yours and made absolutely no difference

Haha try hytech style headers on an h2b eg... Smashed a hole in mine after driving literally 500metres...
