    Car idling very high

Hi, recently my car has started idling roughly around 2500 rpm and will only sometimes drop to 2000 rpm when the engine has warmed up.
I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem was and how I could possibly fix the problem.
Also the car previously had a "pulsing" idle before it started doing this however this went away when I used some fuel injector cleaner.

Chances are very high that its the fast idle valve.

I had the same thing happen to my delsol only 3 days ago.

I pulled the fast idle valve off and found that the plastic piece in the inside had un-wound by itself. I compared it to another fast idle valve, and wound it back it about the same distance.

Put it back together and it was mint. . .

Now google what, where, why, when, how the fast idle valve works.

Or it could be a vac leak. Had a car do the same thing when the vac hose for the crank case breather had a split it in.

Thanks for the advice, I adjusted the fast idle thermal valve and the car has started idling at around the 1400rpm mark while cold, I have not taken the car for a drive to warm it up so I will get back to you with idle speeds when the car is warm soon.

Where can the crank case breather be found? Thanks

Its the biggest vac pipe. Comes off where the injectors are then onto the manifold.
But it could be a vac leak anywhere not just that pipe.

How I test for vac leaks is get a can of carb cleaner and spray small amounts around where I think there might be a leak. Mainly around the TB and where the vac pipes connect.
If theres a leak it will suck up the carb cleaner and you will hear the cars rpm raise for a bit.

Drove the car a bit today and once the engine had warmed up the car started idling around 700 rpm. To me that seems pretty good. It does pulse sometimes however, usually moving to 1000 rpm at the most and 600 rpm at the least.

Sounds good now.. My car sits around 700 once warm, but sits around 1200 when started cold...

Are you getting random spikes in your idle though?

My intake wasnt on properly one time, and my idle would do random spikes,... Sitting on 700 then randomly jumping up to 1000 then back...

Popped the bonnet, noticed the intake wasnt on perfect. Grabbed the screw driver out, loosened it up, pushed it in more, tightened it up...Fixed ...

^^^ If your meaning the intake pipe, Then it must be very restrictive to make any difference. The intake pipe has no sensors on a Honda and the engine should run exactly the same with it on or off. Just a little performance loss from heated air.
So it would be more likely the throttle body gasket is gone and doing the intake pipe up puts pressure on it and seals the gap.

No Sensor? Maybe the guy before me did something about it...
Mine is an aftermarket intake pipe that came when i purchased the car, it has some type of electronic cable that plugs into it... also another hose that goes straight to the motor... (Sorry not up with all the lingo)

If I leave that cable off, and start the car it gives a signal on the dash board?
I thought all hondas would have come with it, but now know it must be something with the aftermarket intake...

And tightening the air intake definitely fix my idle problem, so I have no idea how it did this...

Sounds like some ones moved the air intake temp sensor in an attempt to make it read lower temps and dump more fuel in.

Yeah I dont know anything about this intake, but definitely like it over stock, Most workshops I've taken it to, is like WTF is that, even I was at first when I bought the car...

it looks exactly like this 1, but not carbon

It has the hose to the motor, and next to that it has a cable connected to it... Looks like original parts to, not no hory wiring job
