Very heavy and thirsty. They are pretty much a Skyline wagon so same engine problems they have and as well as the GTS-4 boxes.

Very cool car though, I looked into getting one (RB25T 4WD manual) before I got the EuroR,

Is this car going to be replacing anything or just one car you like particulary?

unless you dont really care about petrol or company paying for then i would at all costs avoid buying one to use as a daily. but good car for a family though nice and big, solid, and powerfull

Yeh as above, look nice but geezus you need to be rich to run one. My old flattie had one, was auto too - round town he got under 400kms a tank, and the tanks pretty big

yeah a 60lt i think, cause i live in titirangi and drive to penrose every day (for work) and the vw golf costs about $94 to fill and im getting around 430kms to a tank which i think is crap.

maybe i will give the stagea a second thought, i realy like them

Well in buying a Stagea you'll not do yourself any favours trying to save money on gas over your Golf..

I'd say they're pretty much on a level par with a VR4 Legnum wagon for Gas consumption, have summin like a 60ltr tank and around town you can get as Trivium said around 400km's.
Although it is a twin cam 6 cylinder, so will most likely chew more gas than our little Honda's anyway. In saying that, the wifes old skool beemer doesnt chew that much gas.

I'm not too sure about the gas consumption but a friends sister owns one & she's not in a high paying job so that gas can't be too bad, I'm guessing here...

Reliability wise, she's had hers for just under a year & had no problems with it at all.

My sister owns the Autech model with the Rb26dett Manual and it drives alright (Isn't exactly slow) but chews through the gas like no tomorrow... Never really liked the look of them, but thats my opinion..

So if you like spending lots of money on gas and its not replacing a Type R of some sort I say buy it....

Just spoke to the Nissan Wrecker's next door to my work, one of them owns a 97 Stagea Auto. Said the only problems he has had with it is the ABS wheel sensors and the transmission failed on it.
He loves it other than that, he told me that he can get from Wellington to Auckland on one tank of gas.... not too sure if thats very good for a 6 cylinder that weighs a couple of tonnes or not, oh and he also said he gets approx 200km's off half a tank around town.

I almost brought a manaul GT-T skyline last year (R34 Rb25det Neo) Took it out for a fang over the hills and used 1/3 a tank in 15mins If your looking to save fuel then anything RB is a killer

    wow heaps of replies
yeah trying to save gas isn't on the high priorty list.i do think that you gas milage has alot to do with your driving, and after checking out an ozy site that has alot of stagea info alot of them get between 400-570km to a tank wich aint to bad considering they are a v6 2.5lt turbo. but they do suck the gas when you get on the boost,

so i am heading to the tron on saturday to check the stag out, i hope shes a minter,(looks it)

Being a 98 it should also be the series 2 which is considerably less ugly. It should also run the RB25DETNEO which should put the power up to 206kw from 185. Just remember they do weigh around 1800kg so they are a bit sluggish. RB's are a straight 6 too, not a V, so much easier to work on. Only things to really look out for mechanically wise are coil packs,AFM's playing up and destroying pistons if you run more than around 12psi of boost.

lol thanks for clearing that up, i have a habit of sayin v6 etc when its a straight.
yeah ive heard of that rumor of the coils going, and it def wouldn't be a 12 psi daily, i think there high bost is about 8psi and low is 4psi

I'm not 100% if the NEO runs the dual stage solenoid, but on the R33/ S1 Stagea you have 6/8psi with the changeover at around 5000rpm
