lower ball joint having play. couldn't feel any play, so stuck a shiny new-looking nut on there anyway. took it back and it passed lol.
Not stupidly ridiculous but I've had front sway bar under 100mm. Took it to another place and passed.
143wkw 1996 Integra Type R
My EK9 failed @ AA, like above it failed on "play" in a lower ball joint. Put a new one in, and it still had the same amount of "play"..and passed. Go figure.
BOV to loud lmfao
Rust on exuast tip (witch was a slip on chrome extention on my stock daily driver 1988 323)
Under bonnet whining while excelrating (was the turbo spolling)
removed spoiler on boot (wtf)
broken door handle (the door handle had a chip out of the corner but worked fine)
no brake booster (on a mk1 escort 1100 they dont even have friken power brekes)

Lmao
haha some of these are crazy lol.
A good way to help with the brake bias, put your handbrake on while your driving say one click, it should heat the brakes up enough so the brake bias will increase on both sides. we get people coming in with that and they've come from VTNZ with a failed wof.
That's when you find it's an internal drum parking brake and you cracked the rotor hat with the heat.
Had my eb civic failed on the brake system. Guy told me the vaccum unit was shot as it didn't go stiff when pumped with engine off, then when i took it elsewhere they failed it on a "dragging noise in rear". Pity they didn't look and see the static strap back there that made the noise.

@ 328ftw that's why you don't drive with it on you only pull it up before you get to the inspection place and only 1 click up so they are only just touching the drum wall

Built, Not bought
Not during wof time... but i was told by my mechanic my springs were legit....
Found out yesterday they were cut.. atleast two coils.
Hate doing that. I've glazed a set before then had the displeasure of redoing them; tiny POS brakes. Rather just avoid VTNZ for that and the other retarded reasoning they've given me everytime.
"you need new wiper blades"
they're new, put them on today
..."they don't function 100% then, you need new ones"
You don't fucking function 100%, need new inspectors.
The new amendment take interpretation out of the equation.
The guys at VTNZ failed just me on a dent in the roof of my Crx which was at least 20cm away from the edge because the said it could be structural and could be dangerous.
I mean WTF??!

VTNZ - Failed for car being too low at the front, had to adjust the height and re-test. Another month, at a different VTNZ, commented on my suspension saying it was spot on 100mm.
The last time I went to VTNZ - failed me for my 35% tints. Told me to remove them and get re-tested. Got them tested externally with a light meter to confirm that they were legal. Went back and asked why they failed me - and said that tints get darker when they get older.. hmm.
Never again.
I go to VTNZ at westgate and the guys there have always been pretty good, they have never failed me on dumb stuff, any fails have been legit (and simple repairs). Been through there in my Soarer and Cressida which are at least 20 years old. Guy there even adjusted my high beam light as it was aimed a bit high![]()
On March 25th: GIVE WAY TO ALL THE THINGS!!!!!!!
Similar story regarding tints + VTNZ dood, except mine was on the side of the road one checkpointy night in Hamiltron.
Him - "The tint's on your rear windows are illegal young man".
Me - "I'm sorry that you think so, but they are in fact legal".
Him - "NO they are ILLEGAL" he gets the light meter and measures, "See they have only 22% VLT".
Me - "Ok then" I open the rear door of the car "you peel them off then"
He tries, and fails. "This can't be right?!"
Me - "It's called tinted glass you asshole, Mr Honda fitted it in Japan, and the car was complianced with them" I turned to the supervising Cop "Sir, can I leave now, this idiot is wasting both of our time"
Cop - "Sure mate, have a good night".

VTNZ failed me on tint - but entirely my fault. Didnt realize that the glass was already slightly tinted when I put the 35% tint on, which pushed it over the limit. Took forever to put on, then take off. DIdnt bother with it after that
Oh yeah, they failed me on a 'stretched emergency brake cable'. Took it to pitstop who said it wasnt stretched, it just needing adjusting.

Had the exact same thing happen to me also
IHaters!
Had a guy at VTNZ tell me that my standard turbo was too big and that I would need to get it certified? Tried to explain to him that it was the turbo that came on it when it was originally made, and that it says on my Cert plate "Toyota Mod" "Turbo Fuel INJ". Still stood his ground and told me I had to get a letter from the local LVVTA Certifier (just passed Cert about two weeks beforehand), took it to him and he wrote a letter basically explaining what was written on the Cert Plate. And told me to never go to VTNZ again![]()
