    Re: police block in

Just looking at the scene having not been there:
    -Industrial area with minimal traffic
-Hundreds of modified cars lining each side of the road
    -People drinking
-Hmmmmm looks suspiciously like someone is going to do some drag racing

    Now change that scene:
-hundreds of cars parked up at a beach/park
-Everyone out of their cars having a BBQ/chatting/not driving up and down showing off their car
-Hmmm looks suspiciously like a group of people having a good time and not bothering anyone

Of course having not been there I am probably missing something

Have to be silly to go to an event like that in Chch I think... The view of the masses on it are very clear and you will be targetted if you dont have express Police permission and perhaps some supervision. 7 Hours is excessive however.

It really does feel like Police think the genius holding the Camera is organizing things he shouldn't be if hes having Police at his house, various times groups he is in being targeted and hes being help until last as the end of the video shows...

His attitude wasn't great either, If there's any city in NZ where you should probably just turn the other cheek and eat it as a Modded car owner Christchurch is it.

    This I agree with!

I think the police were too heavy handed, but if this group is known to the police as the "nightskids" type then you reap what you sow. If I was cruising with the Thursday night welly skid cunts I would expect to get tarred with the same brush.

The thing is, this same cruise has gone on every 4&R we have had, and it has included both muppets (who behave during it, and go off afterwards and start shit) and regular car enthusiasts. Checkpoints have been set up around the place to catch out the bad cars, and unmarked/marked cars out and about catching bad drivers. Obviously there was something brewing where they decided to stop last weekend, but at the time the Police went there (from what I've been told by people I know who went) nothing bad had happened. Drinking is permitted, it's not a liquor banned area, no different to a lot of people do on road trips. Things only started to escalate after a select few got cabin fever and began to get rowdy - as you would. I personally wouldn't have had anything to do with it as I knew there'd be a chance the Police would retaliate after the disaster that was last year's 4&R weekend, but I can still understand why some people would have gone along and thought all would be fine. Whilst I agree with the aim of the Police, and that the cruise was horribly organised, how they went about it was far from the right way. If you watch the video without the sound you'll see what I mean.

Those people shouldn't be gathering with the munters then.

Diplomatic? There's no choice but to be because nobody here knows the full story behind what happened and why. You can't take sides unless you know this, and last time I checked I was entitled to freely post on here (like yourself). And on that note, thread locked until the full story comes to light.
