Thats the point in the new LED and LCD screens.
If you had a CTR computer screen then that would be pulling around 100-150W and if you had a old plasma TV then that would be anywhere from 300W-600W.

If you really want to be sure you can get power meter things from Jcar/DSE for $20 and they will give you all the readings. I was really surprised when I tested everything at my place. My PC screen being the most surprising.

21inch AOC LED one and it only uses 8W on desktop and 13-15W in BF3.

And the most power hungry thing Iv got in my house is the jug, Uses 3011W to boil water lol.
My PC only uses 618W at the most running stress tests, Prime86 + furmark. Thats with 2 high overclocked GFX cards and a power hungry overclocked 8 core bulldozer.

Best thing about it is the case size, Bitfenix shinobi case is small so good for lans and the limited space I have

Just bought another SSD 240gb OCZ vertex 3 for my games.

Also 6/gb per second hot swap board delivered from California,USA, couldnt get a new one from any supplier in NZ or Aus, couldnt RMA my original hotswap board so went straight to the manufacturer Corsair in the US they sent it to me for free. took a little over a week to get here love it.

Nice! I'm tossing up between the OCZ Vertex 3 and the Corsair Force GT. The Corsair Force GT 240Gb is about $80 cheaper than the OCZ Vertex3 Max IOPS 240Gb so I may go for that.

OCZ has their Octane series which is based on the Indilinx Everest controller, which is basically an in house controller based on Indilinx after OCZ bought Indilinx out.

Here is a review done by Xbit Labs comparing it to other SSDs like the OCZ Vertex3 Max IOPs, Corsair Force GT, Corsair Force 3 and Crucial M4.

In some tests it matches the other SSDs but in others it looks to be inferior.

Cheapest 3D screen you can get but its better then the next cheaper one thats $50 more expensive.
For $325 shipped to your door im surprised not every one has 3D screens. Been re-watching Spartacus in 3D and its a completely different show with the blood splatters and such.
Only thing disappointing with it so far is that you need to be about 60-70cm away from the screen and more then 6 hours starts giving you a head ache and makes you eyes feel weird when you look at normal stuff since your focus point is completely different.

I just hope you have a good GFX card. With 3D off I get 130-140FPS with 4X AA all Ultra at 1080 on old maps and around 90-100 with lows of 60s on karkand maps.
With 3D on I get 50-60fps with it hitting lows of 38ish with all Ultra 2X AA at 1080 on the karkand maps. Old maps stay above 60fps still and average around 100fps for most of them.
I just have to set AA to 0X when on the karkand maps to keep game play smooth. But I have noticed with 3D you cant even notice the frame rate when it gets in to the 30s if you dont have the counter up. Where with 3D off if it ever dropped below 60 you can see straight away.

The GFX card has to do 3 times the work. Render 1 frame as odd and 1 as even then interlace them together to give 3d effect. Also uses twice the vram since it has to store 2 different texture sets so my 1GB is really holding me back now on the karkand maps which are vram hogs.
Dropping the image quality also makes a huge difference to the look of it in 3D for very little frame rate increase. At low its only 20fps higher then at ultra with 0XAA but it looks so much worse and shadows turning purple and it looks all glitch.

They only look half as good as when they are in the native 3d format but I doubt any one would want to view a 40mb file lol.

Hmmm might look into getting one dude, yeah I have x2 EVGAGTX580's installed, so should be plenty, will need to look at better cooling though so might consider going back to the whole water cooling the cards thing, then again I might hold off on getting the screen and wait for the new nVidia cards to come out......

But dude BF3 looks amazing in 3D!

Get some Antec 620s to water cool your cards, Thats what my ones are running.

Havnt tried any teir 2 active 3d like nvidia 3d vision. But its better then the old teir 1 stuff I tried 3 years ago on my uncles TV for a few reasons.
1: Weight of glasses.
2: No cords/battery's.
3: No flicker
4: Cheap
5: Doesnt require 120hz
6: Anything can be converted to 3D.

The only down things compared to it would be.
1: Image gets dimmed.
2: Have to set up distance and be atleast 60cm away from screen also viewing angles have to be with in 30degrees or you get ghosting.

Would love to compare to the new Nivida 3D vision.
Also its better then the Theaters passive 3D since you can set up your viewing distance where I imagine theirs is set to be around the middle row so if your out of that zone it gets more blurry.

Yeah the Nvidia 3D Vision 2 with lightboost seems pretty cool. Although can't you just crank up the backlight?

Turning up the backlight just washes the image out. It gets dimmed because the way it works with half the image to each eye being blocked out by the bar pattern.
But its not that bad, I can still see everything perfectly just once you take them off and look at the same image you notice everything is so much brighter. Especially the whites.
The white with the glasses on is like the chat bar at the bottom of the page if you have it enabled compared to the white on the rest of the page.

Been trying to make a fraps video of 3D. I can get it to record and play perfectly in raw format (3GB per min) but as soon as I encode it the encoder stuffs it up by applying de-interlace filters on it.
Even forcing all filters off as soon as I play it in anything they automaticly de-interlace it. VLC is the only player Iv been able to disable the automatic de-interlace but it still has problems like motion estimating.
So I guess there is no way to compress it.

So far, the best 3D game has to be Dirt 3. Looks absolutely amazing on max setting 1080 in 3D.
Also figured out how to connect wireless xbox controllers to PC's using the ROL board from a Xbox 360 soldered up to a USB port and custom drivers.

... Slight off topic but kinda on topic. If you want a gaming rig, let the guys at iPC Computer Solutions Rangiora build one for you. The build is VERY tidy and good price. I found the team there really good, they designed the system in my budget, and it rocks for me. I've played BF3 on Ultra, but backed it off as I can pick enemy at distance better at lower settings.

GA-Z68XP-UD3 mother board and 10Gb of DDR3 1333 Ram got some Arctic Cooling RAM coolers on the Rams too. Also some massive copper cpu cooler that I'm not sure of the brand, but its got 100mm fans on both sides of it. Coolmaster PSU and Adata RAM
