NZH Movie review thread

*thread idea blatantly stolen from another forum*

Purpose: Post a quick mention for movies you have just watched to give people an idea of what to look for next time they go to the video store or movies. Extra points for movies people arent likely to know much of.

Watched tonight:

Probably an easy one, most people will know it, will have seen it etc. I Liked it, probably a 7.5/10, very entertaining.

This is a good watch, requires a bit of attention i think to 'get it' so probably best for a cold night in. I reckon I could watch it again and still be pretty interested. 7/10

I watched shutter island last weekend, was pretty good but really hard to follow at some stages. 7/10 id say.

I just watched tonight, Shutter Island on Bluray, FUCKIN AWESOME!! Loved it, yes you need to concentrate on what is happening but I guess thats a smart persons movie. Exceptionally well directed by scorcese and well acted with leo

I bought Avatar on bluray last week to watch pretty good to. If anyone here is acquring movies these two are not out in NZ yet one is soon though

Watched this the other night was really tired when i inserted disk but was consumed buy the movie to it turn out to be (no offence) story about F**king poo pirates.
that aside good watch
6.9/10

made me feel a bit drunk but was cool also.

finally drawn together def and aquired taste but i liked it

^Office Space is classic! And that scene is one of the best parts.

I finally watched Gran Torino last weekend

Good watch. 7.5 out of 10. Man he was an angry old fart (fair enough though really).

Also give either of these if you haven't seen them. Both a good entertaining watch. Plenty of laughs.

Hells yeah, Twas manky as last night.

After I started this we also watched Alice in wonderland.

Worth a watch, but i did think it was a bit confused about whether it was a kids movie or an adult movie, and the cast was a bit hit and miss. Johnny depp nailed it, but Alice, not so much. Overall a 6/10, probably a good watch with a bunch of people, because it wouldnt require your complete attention. It had Matt Lucas who was pretty clever in it.

I feel it may be another night in tonight, I have a couple of movies lined up will report back later.

Anyone know the name of that surfing/extreme sport film that was on the news the other night?

Some NZ guy with heaps of old footage from the 80's etc.

Its meant to be part of the film festival but I cant seem to find it

Watched "Knight and Day" with the missus the other night.

I would give it about 5/10, the action was alright if not extremely predictable and cheesey. Some pretty outrageous bits that'll leave you going wtf it just doesn't work like that. Watch it if you have a free/cheap voucher otherwise don't bother.
