NZH Movie review thread

watched a movie called blood and bone, its about fighting and its pretty decent. only flaw is the overly black asian guy, once you watch it you will understand.

also clash of the titans was sick except for the gaywad main actor

traitor is also a good movie, has don cheadle as a muslim/spy/terrorist of some kind, quite entertaining.

This is what i have watched last week.
1. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (bluray)
AWESOME...watched it too many times.
2. Saving Private Ryan (bluray)
Awesome battle scene but i can't watch the Jewish got stabbed in the
heart scene.
3. The A Team
Definitely entertaining but something is not quite right which made me
go "What!!!??". Also no subtitle and too mcuh American slangs is a bit hard
for me to understand.

Oh, another recent one is The Green Zone. Good war movie, along the lines of The Hurt Locker but with conspiracy theories thrown in the mix.

I watched The Baby Kahu story on TV last night. Was actually pretty good about the kidnap and ransom of baby Kahu in 2002.

Here's a tip: If you are are making a ransom call from a phonebooth (a) don't call your own cellphone immediately beforehand and (b) don't call your mate immediately afterwards. That's how he got caught. Idiot.

Have been working through allllll the Bond movies, in order. Watched Die Another Day last night, which surprisingly wasn''t as bad as I remembered it - just goes to show how bad seats (second row, far right, huuuuge screen) can really root your appreciation of a movie.

That said, it's still average at best, so 4/10.

Also rented Law Abiding Citizen on Tuesday, probably worth about 7/10 as it started strong but the twist near the end was a bit disappointing.

Knight & Day = 7/10
Went on 'datenight' with the wifey, all i'd been told was that it was a romantic comedy.. so was expecting the worst. Result = some pretty sick action (so long as you accept its not 'realistic' action) with an OK love story tied in. Enjoyable for all.. somewhat of a Mission Impossible meets Charlie's Angels (actors included)

The Karate Kid = 8.75/10
I live in Beijing so this one was a bit more relate-able than it might be for your average watcher. The portrayal of modern Beijing was surprisingly accurate, which was really nice to see. Will Smith's son does an incredible job with his acting and marshall arts skills - he's going to be huge.. and i felt Jackie Chan played his role acceptably. No surprises with the ending, but still a nice 'feel-good' movie.

Zombieland = 8.5/10
Only just watched this today on DVD, as the lady couldnt last through the first 5 minutes initially. Thought it was well done, I'm not normally a fan of 'zombie movies' but felt this was a more modern take on one, pretty funny and interesting movie with some good action and romance. boom!

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs - 9.25/10
So so funny. Def not a 'kids-only' movie. I dunno if I was in a particularly good mood when I watched this, but found it to be hilarious, awesome story line etc etc. Would definitely watch again!

Great, great movie. Good mix of post-apocalyptic sci-fi, and slash-em-up fighting action. 8/10

Plus, Mila Kunis is absolutefuckinglutely hot.
