Interesting. I'm STILL leaning a bit towards Android since it's more open. This release brings a lot more "standard" things to the iPhone though, 720p video recording, HD screen, Wireless N.

HD Video editing on the fly is pretty trick, was talking to my wife about getting an iphone over the weekend..... but I think I will go with Android.

I wont get an iPhone until they get genuine flash integration.

It's the one thing that drives me mental about my 3G Touch - even my shitty E63 Nokia has flash...

After actually reading that entire keynote, it looks mint. Loving the 720p recording > editing > exporting > uploading all from the phone.

The screen and camera _sound_ amazing. The point he's made about megapixels being a load of shit is a good one. Will wait for independent reviews but still, if you believe the hype it all sounds mint.

Yeah, I figured as much re: Flash.

Tis a shame they dont integrate fit. However, the new 4G looks insane though for sure - Screen looks amazing, and the gyro is a sick feature. To be fair my 3G touch has still been an amazing little tool for what it is.

EDIT: BTW, is it me, or is Jobs looking even more frail. I know he's been sick, but mang, he is not looking well IMO.

Apart from flash integration (which is my only downside now) I think its mint!

better battery, LED flash, 5MP autofocus, HD Video incl editing on the fly, faster processor, Better screen, multitasking. Plus its smaller and lighter

I'm definitely going to upgrade it from my 3G. I'm surprised with it's Retina Display. It will be release in July for NZ.

Good to see they have finally incorporated multitasking. However it is still not open-source or flexible enough for my liking - something Apple will never resolve as that is just how their company operates. Top of my books is the HTC Evo 4G hands down, or the Nexus One.

But yes, the "Openness" of it is still the single biggest draw back from me personally (Second is no removable storage..). However where Apple has the one-up is the absolute perfect integration of Software and Hardware. Still, I want root access on my phone

DAMN that looks awesome, I probably wont upgrade from my 3GS purely due to cost but still looking forward to iOS4 which is coming out in a couple of weeks.

People I've spoken to have said the lack of openness with applications and the lack of 'wow' factor (compared to other comparable phones on the market) will stop them from buying one. Feels like Apple has been sidetracked with their Ipad thingy as well.

There HAS to be some aspect of aesthetics though. As Mr Clarkson says, if you're going to sit there and explain to your date that your phone can do Flash and the iPhone can't, what's the point.

I'd like to know what people define as functions that give a phone the "wow" factor they speak of. Fold out 1080p 42" LED TV? An SSH/RDP client would be nice.

No not the 4G, but the fact there is any new model out now. Now the 32GB 3GS should be cheaper.

I love not having to have the latest gadgets. Just wait till there's a version you like, then wait till a further version is out, and get the now "old" version. Which "Oh My Gosh, is soooooo last year"... Haha. Pleh.

I've got a good phone now. I just would like to have my iPod and phone in one. So don't need fancy video editing. I mean, yes it will be cool now and then, but I wouldn't use it enough to justify spending $100's more to get.
