Motul Honda Cup #94
Yea, that's the big fail - the apps have to support multitasking. Additionally it is limited to only 7 applications to extend battery life, whereas Android is not limited at all.
'there is no patch for stupidity.'
my blog
I predict that nykon will be the next BWDOWN and will own an iPhone at some stage in the future.
There was a fundamental OS change to allow multitasking (If you can call it that, considering it's not true multitasking) through new APIs, obviously it's going to require the apps to support it. Also, I honestly can not think of more than 7 applications you're going to have to run simultaneously on your phone. Can you?
The other side of this argument (and surveys have proven it too) is the Jeremy Clarkson factor. If you have to explain why your phone is better than another phone, then you've already failed.
Hot Chick: OOooo is that a new iPhone?
nykon: ...no, it's XYZ Android
Hot Chick: Oooooo, cool what songs do you have in iTunes?
nykon: *sigh* - It doesn't have iTunes, it has XYZ Media player
Hot Chick: *giggles* - Lame! Why didn't you just buy an iPhone? iTunes is the bestest?!
nykon: I can run more than 7 applications at once, plus if I want to I can have terminal access and hack my phones kernel.
Hot Chick: ........
nykon: Gobby?
Don't get me wrong, I want Android to do awesome and I want more and more competition in this new mobile OS race, but you can't dismiss the iPhone completely for Android/Blackberry/etc. (Personally I wouldn't even lump Blackberry in with this lot since they are more "corp only" ?)
Nykon, as a developer you should be <3ing the iPhone hards. Make some "shitty light saber app" - Sell it for $2, boom, $10k overnight. In the official announcement they mentioned the owner of (I think) periodictable.com - He made more money in one days sales of his iPhone app compared to five years worth of Google Ads.
Lulz at James, so true though everyone knows what an iPhone is, nobody apart from geeks would know what a motorola milestone is..
Go play with your ugly brick
Double tap the home button to open multitasking then slide its on the far left![]()
Sucky about the voicemail button and the XT logo not being available after you upgrade to OS4.
The only gay in the village
I got the Telstra Desire from mobicity.com.au for around $850. Works great on XT.
Flashing a generic ROM onto it was easy... it was just a matter of downloading a custom built Tiny Core Linux ISO, booting into it and following a few simple instructions. This process rooted the phone and flashed a generic HTC 2.1 ROM onto it in about 10 minutes. And from there it's really simple to flash new ROMs onto it (i've done it about 10 times now with no issues).
Bricking isn't really an issue anymore as there is a few ways to avoid bricking a phone when flashing it.
^-- Are you UWF on Geekzone? Cause pretty sure I've been stalking your HTC Desire threads, heh.
iPhone 4 review -- Engadget <-- One of the first actual reviews.
"We're not going to beat around the bush -- in our approximation, the iPhone 4 is the best smartphone on the market right now."
yip loving the ios4
just hanging out for iphone4 now![]()
do u want me to leave a skid mark on ur face ? or a bukake ?
LOL at James: Nykon vs woman break down..
Yeah you right Essub, Apple should just develop something once and leave it alone for ughh like 10 years...
@Hayce
Apple probably have one of the slowest release/new product timse of any technology company.
On the computer front they reelase a new desktop or laptop *maybe* once a year, compare to Dell, HP, Lenova, Toshiba etc..
On the phone front compare to the big smartphone plaers - HTC/Nokia/LG/Samsung etc and Apple still are "slow" when it comes to releaseing new product...
@everyone who says iPhones are for girls and kids and not serious business. I work at a company full of electrical engineers and programmers and it's a 50-50 split between android and apple os... If you look at the app stores there are plenty of gimmicky apps as well as plenty of quality apps for business purposes and in fact my company is busy developing our own due to many of our corporate customers owning iPhones...
There are definately Apple "fanboys" out there but a lot of people buying iphones aren't "fanboys", just people wanting a quality and feature rich phone.
@Ghecko - did you mention anywhere that the iPhone 4 will pretty much be the only phone in the world to work 3G 850/900/1900/2100 which means it will work on Vodafone 3G (900+2100) and Telecom XT (aka 3G 850+2100)...
Oh and for the record I have an older Nokia E63 + IBM laptop + home built PC + IBM work pc. However my work has got a few iPhone 4's currently on their way from the UK.
Nokida N8 isn't available yet though? Oh and some would argue that Symbian is an inferior OS...
It seems to me that Nokia are willing to take a hit on profit margins on the N8 just so they can take total market dominance in all areas of the consumer cellular handset market...
TBH Nokia has already lost the smartphone war..
HTC and Apple are taking HUGE market share out of them every month
Hey john......I pissed on an iphone.
