Surprised HI ALL! Gonna get my DC5, but I`m new in Auckland and need to know where to get stuff done! HELP?

    Hi Everyone!
I`m new here, i`m like the new kid on the block and of course i`m in to cars.

I used to drive a EG with an D16 engine (Yes Single Cam) Sadly in Singapore it's too expensive to own a car.
Anyway, it was built up and had lots of fun in it. Unfortunately, had to scrape it and i`ve moved over to NZ!

I`m gonna get my DC5 VTI in a couple of weeks. And it's totally stock. Since the forum people would know what kind of mods, and workshops are awesome. Maybe someone can suggest a few good places in Auckland i could go to get my new found baby sooooped up!

Any idea where i can get a good place (and reasonable priced) to do Intakes, Exhaust and Coilovers.

Was thinking of getting a HKS HI Power and BC Gold Coilovers, Intake wise i`m lost. OH! And a good place to get a KPRO.

Hopefully someone can shine some light on me.

    Hi there.

Welcome to NZHondas! ... I'm from Melaka

May I urge you, before asking any questions, please search before you ask! .. that is if you'd like to enjoy your stay.....

All those mods in a DC5 VTi? I understand you've just moved and you'd like to quickly own a car ... But I personally don't think that is a good idea. I'd say spend the money on the DC2r and save up until you can get a DC5r. HKS exhaust + BC Gold's + K-Pro = money that can be put on top of the VTI in exchange for a DC5r.

Both these cars are already ALOT different in comparison to a EG with a D16 - Trust me. I've went from a D16 eg to a DC2r as well, definitely worth the change! But then again, your money, your choice, I'm just giving you an opinion that the majority of the people will most likely give as well

    Welcome!

As _rsk_ said above, your probably better off to get a dc2r from the get go and then just save for a dc5r.

Its not really worth while pouring all that extra money into the VTI IMO.

However, it is your money, and as long as what you do makes you happy, then who cares!!

I hope you enjoy your time here!

Hello from SG! Just moved back here having been in NZ for the past 9 years or so. Enjoy your stay and have a good play around with cars while there's no COE and the laws are relatively relaxed. You're right about cars here - too expensive!

Don't get a VTI, go for a Type R. Go test drive both and you'll see why. As for mods - slowly have a look around, the car scene in NZ is quite different from that in SG. Bit of advice - make sure you get comprehensive insurance as car theft there is quite common (might be best to check for insurance approval before putting any mods on too), and don't leave valuables lying in view when you leave the car. People will smash your window to grab that $5 note in your dash pocket.

Hey man as a dc5r owner I would have to agree with the guy above there is alot of differents as for mods the type r as u know are a cut above the rest so there not much modding need apart from the exhaust body kit and ride height but if you just look around you will see these are quite pricy

That list of mods could possibly be the price difference between the vti nada type r and to be honest a stock itr is WAY better then a vti with a few decent mods!

If you want a fun reliable standard car to see you through your day to day driving duties and also be a little bit 'sporty' then the vti will be more then fine.

If you're after something a bit more racey and extreme in a modified sense a stock type r will be awesome!

If you've got the modifying bug and enjoy make improvements in areas and also personalizing the car to your own tastes in the future then the type r is also the way to go - such a better base for mods!!

Agree with the comments above. If you're looking into intake, headers, exhaust and a Kpro, the VTI is the wrong base to start with. Best saving that money and putting it towards a stock DC5R. Those mods on a VTI will yield you very small gains on the VTI K20, compared to the DC5R K20.
I own a DC5 iS (Jap VTI), it's a great around town and open road travelling car, but it lacks the excitement factor.

Actually, given the price difference between the two. The plan was to get a JAP VTI, and boost it. People would kill me for boosting a DC5R, cause i`ve got friends playing VTI's. So in the mean time. I`ll get a Buddy club Pro Spec Exhaust as well as a BC Gold Coilovers. And sounds for now. KPRO Definately. Anyone selling KPRO?

Oh, and where can i get these parts for a good price? I believe that if you want to drive stock with very minimal mods, a DC5R would be choice. I love the car as well. But having given it some thought, it maybe wiser to get the VTI and spend the extra cash on mods and engine and suchs. That could turn out better.

Wouldn't it be a waste to mod a DC5R hardout?

Looks like you have a mind set on a VTi... If that's what you want, go and get a VTi. Our thoughts wouldn't matter much as you already have a mind set. I've driven both cars, and definitely go for DC5R. if you dont have enough budget to go DC5R, then go for the DC2R.
