The bonnet acts as a seal, but the flow through the cold air pipes should be more than the the flow into the engine so it will be keeping the box under positive pressure
Your just as likely to hydrolock your engine with a stock intake as you are with a CAI. It draws the air from the same location. (assuming the resonator is still there)
In the end, i dont care what magazines say, or what stupid aussie youtube video tests say, i think its up to the individual. Whatever you like, and think works for you.
I used a Mugen intake on my ITR for a little while. And apart from looking gorgeous in the engine bay, i thought it sounded like crap. So stuck with my CAI lol.
The same debate is had on FI forums. No matter how cold the air is entering your intake, it still has to pass through a turbo sitting at a bagillion degrees. Thats what an intercooler is forAnd my car intake temps are pretty consistent during the day regardless of the weather.

sorry about resurrecting old thread, but few people been talk about dyno'ing different intakes and coming back with the figures.
One compression i'm interested in particular is Whale P. Vs 3" Short Ram.
I'm personalty think 3" Short Ram is a WIN over W.P. and trying to convince my mate to switch over for short ram with Cold Air Box, but without any figures there is no point.
Mean while i'll let you perv on my prospect glass Cold Air Box i've recently made, cost me $0 as i found shit load of sheets at one of organic collection days))

lets not forget that we not only measuring intake temperature but also performance (air velocity etc...)

these two videos seem to sum the argument up pretty nicely!
