    √Mini=B18c

I have a mini and my plan is to put a B18c type R in it,

I have the engine from an integra type r and am in the process of fitting it into the mini engine bay.

The reason for this post is to open up to anyone reading to give me there ideas suggestions or problems that I mite run into and how I mite go about fixing them, anything would be appreciated even if its just a comment on what you think, I haven't done much work on hondas before so I am unfamiliar with working on the engine so I am just going to attack it as i get to it lol.

There are entire communities on the net devoted to explaining everything around this. Have you found them? Or you just want some extra input from nzhondas?

I would like to get ideas from nz honda driver/workers because I can hopefully get some good contacts in nz to get equipment and work done instead of importing everything, and i mite meet some people who i will see when i take it to the tracks later

I am using the standard mini frame but dramatically modifying and strengthening it because there is only one subframe available in nz and it costs $2700 and you need to extend the front end by 100mm, I could import 1 but the price is pretty similar and then there is shipping costs. and I have had a reasonable quote to help me modify and fit the engine that is well below the price of the subframe kit and I will get exactly what I want.

Clubman or round nose? By the sounds of it round nose id say? as clubmans tend to be able to fit b-series fine if my memory serves me

Friend down here is putting a d16 in his mini just so he doesnt have to extend anything on his round nose

Have you priced up the cost of a full fibreglass front yet?

    Re: √Mini=B18c

yes it is a round nose they r the better looking mini, yes apparently the round nose does have more space issues than the clubman minis i know that B18c has been put in a round nose mini with no lengthening needed so that is what I am striving for because nothing is impossible lol (Nek Minit)....
I have looked for the fiber front ends in nz but there is non that i can find so i am thinking i will cut my losses and keen the steel nose because it is stronger, handles stone chips better and easy to modify so thats not too bigger loss for me you know.

What ECU are you going to be running?
Id highly sugest getting a OBD1 ecu so it can be tuned for even more power.
Also a LSD is a must if you want any chance of traction.

    Re: √Mini=B18c

I have one lurking in the back of my shed although well from being finished. Its not actually mine but i have spent hours on it.

I decided subframes were to expensive so i drew my own and bent it out of 38.1mm Roll cage tube. looked good in the models but i never had a model of the engine to check tolerences.
It has came out ok but if i was to do it again i would make the frame less symetrical and allow more room in various places. Engine is just a gen1 B16a and cable box, nothing too flash.

The motor will fit into the front of a standard round nose but only just. However once you put the alternator to the front of the engine it will stick through the grill. relocating to the top of the guard, mounted to the passenger side engine mount will allow you to run a factory front but its alot of work and very hard to allign the belts correctly.

The cam cover on the B16a sits pretty much flush with the liner/lip for the bonnet so that may have to be notched for the taller B18cr or have the motor mounted lower fractionally, that could be hard when running factory mini suspension (maybe?)

I had planned on using suspension from a City to get rid of the factory rack (as they always wear/are worn out) and allow a bigger range of wheel options and brakes. Geometry will stay similar to that of the City but i have allowed for extra camber and castor adjustment while still minimising bump steer. (This package could all change the more i think about it)

Other projects have now moved in so i am toying with those. However your project may encourage me to pull it out and have a go again.

Best of luck. Its something that is covered in great detail over seas, local help is always a bonus though.
Look forward to seeing the progress.

the photos need to be a reasonable size to upload, not strait off the camera. you really dont want bigger than about 1200x800 and 400kb for internet forums
