Thread: Hampton Honda Cup grid full and still 3 weeks to go

With over 3 weeks to go until Honda Cup run as a support class for the new V8 Super Tourers at Hampton Downs the Honda Cup grid is fully booked and reserves are queing up .

The organisors of the round have limited the Honda grid to 28 cars with reserves being allowed to practice and qualify in the event that someone withdraws which is quite likely after a full day of testing plus qualifying and 4 races over the 3 days

Awesome Good news for the HC guys and for the future!

Looks like we may be able to get the starting grid pushed out to 30 cars - biggest field of Hondas ever to race in NZ!

The Honda community has you (Al) a lot of thanks to give for once again raising the profile of Honda in motorsport in NZ. I always had/have faith that more people would want to support and be apart of a brand that we are all so passionate about.

There are a few of us working away behind the scenes -Richard Gee has done a huge amount of work on the promo and marketing side and Wayne Chapman has been there right from the start handling all the Tech matters and has assisted at every round .
Its taken 3 years and I think its just starting to come together .


How are things looking for a South Island Winter Series this year ?

Well thank you to Richard and Wayne for their tireless work.

Have been slowly chipping away at potential people when time and opportunity line up. There is certainly interest out there. Invercargill, Chch and Timaru have plenty of takers.

Well maybe we need to get together and as soon as the South Island winter club calendar is out see if we can get 3 meetings sorted .
A couple of us could come down to help get it all rolling .

All the tech regs are done so it really a matter of booking the dates and starting to drive it along .

We really need a South Island |rep at each track/region to help us put it all together
