Thread: Honda Cup summer series - who's coming?

I am unconfirmed, in 3 weeks Ill find out how much longer I need the cast on my leg for, then I have rehab on top of that + the chance of needing surgery... Will see how it goes

Well Paddy, as you know I have been trying to get out there myself for some time now!
I had every intention of having a run in the current series, but an incident at a Gravel Sprint saw the demise of my first Honda Project.
I too am currently in the build process of a new EG, but I have learnt starting from scratch can be a very challenging (but enjoyable) process, so my estimated build time of 6 months was a bit of a joke!

This is the only photo I have available at work at the moment. Progress has moved on from this point, but only backwrds, I.E, the care is now a bare shell as i prep the Subframes and Suspension for reassembly.

Once its rolling again, it will be off for a cage.



The budget has already expired on this one, so i too will be not far from stock come making the start line, but for me, its just a matter of getting out there and having some fun, and i am very much looking forward to that.

Will i make the Summer Series??... Probably not the start, I would like to think i could, but realistically I have no idea, so I'm not going to make any promises I cannot keep - One promise i can make tho - I will get there - sometime

Come on guys, I built my car in 3 months over a winter and I'm just an office jockey with no mechanical training at all

Admittedly I had just sold my Datto Coupe which bank rolled the build.
The only things I paid someone else to do were:
Roll cage
Mount seat
Wiring loom (mine started life as a carby auto D15B)

Only having access to the vehicle on weekends, and having every second weekend taken up by running car club events kinda slows progress somewhat

We are undecided if Danni will be racing or not. All comes down to funds and how much each event costs.

Yes, but seeing as some of the events are 3 day events I hardly see that happening? Or would it only be racing on one of those days?

Here below is my Eg6 I started with on the day I picked it up. A huge thanks to Haden (Green Machine) for putting it onto me. Its currently pretty beaten up on the outside. So sourcing some new panels and will get some fresh paint once that sorted.

Was planning on the Honda-Cup for next winter, but now that the new Summer Series has come up, I will be trying hard to make it. Have a feeling I won't make the first few rounds though

Ill be doing manfield round of the winter series honda cup (first time out) then will be completing my usual club series (road and track series) and also gunna try to do ALL rounds of Honda cup summer series. Funds play a big part in this but will certainly do all manfield rounds and Taupo.

Dont have any sponsers so it comes down to working my arse off but hopefully ill get there and be competitive

This is my shitbox, B16b with b18c head (unsure why anyone would do this) Tune it myself and maintain it myself with some help from my older and younger brothers

Oh i see, been hard to find info about the car as its had a couple of owners since the original one and alot of the info is BS that ive been given.

Car is fairly well setup but ive removed about 45-50kg already without going silly, so hopefully i can find another few KG this weekend

I'll be there no doubt. Car is in storage until I get home then it needs a bit of TLC. May not make the first round since it's so close to when I get home (and money will be VERY tight), but from the 2nd round I'll be in with a grin.Got plenty of new bits to go on too
