    Compressing springs

How do compressed springs handle? Just like lowering springs? Or shittier?

    Re: Compressing springs

They also require a cert. Second hand lowering springs are cheap as chips nowdays anyway, do it properly and don't end up regretting it.

Yep, handle like arse. Factory is better.

I don't think they require certification though Chris... Have had two cars in the past with compressed springs and never ever had a problem.

By compressing springs, you are altering the heat treatment of the spring and will never be as good.

EDIT: look around for 2nd hand springs, I lowered my Civic for $23.

    Re: Compressing springs

In either the WOF/certification handbook it says that lowering that has utilised force (ie, cutting) or heat requires certing. But, I guess that's being totally anal. I know a few people who have gotten away with WOFs fine too, just so long as the springs are captive! Should be illegal with how rough they ride.

    Re: Compressing springs

Yea, I think it might be different if a professional shop actually does it, maybe? Rather that 'custom back yard styles'...

Just was never mentioned to me when I had it done either time

    Re: Compressing springs

Cheers for the info guys! Just thought it would be a cheaper alternative rather than lowering springs, but turns out compressing is $140 per pair of springs!

    Re: Compressing springs

If the above price is still relevant (highly likely if not more expensive) you better off getting some coilover sleeves.

    Re: Compressing springs

you would need a cert if you are compressing lowering spring as im sure it will be lower than 100mm from ground.

    Re: Compressing springs

call the certifier as the price differs depending on what you want done. normally around 400

there is a list of certifiers on the LVVTA website.

    Re: Compressing springs

you can get them compressed too what ever height you want. dont get it under 100mm and make sure there captive. you will never have problems with wofs or with cops.
