Going from Dot rated tyres to Race slicks?

Just a quick question to ensure ive got the basics covered. Wanting to know any recommendations on alignment spring rates etc

Have bought a full set of Khumo S700 race slicks in 200/580 R15 size and want to get my setup done as quickly as possible, Have been running Toyo R888's until now.

Im thinking along the lines of

More Camber front and maybe some more on rear,
Maybe stiffer front springs depending on tyre wear,
Also have the option of Whiteline front swaybar too,
and a fairly neutral wheel alignment

Any opinions from people who have done similar?

Put your front D2 springs in the rear (I think they are 12 arent they?) and get some 14 or 16kg fronts perhaps?

To be honest in your shoes the above changes would be good but it wouldn't be a bad idea to just run the tyres as is and see how it feels and what the clock says and then go from there.

Its so easy to make lots of setup changes and then THINK its made a big difference but it's hard to know which we're actually benifitial and which weren't. As it stands the car will feel quite different on slicks already. Stiffer springs and more camber etc would be worth looking at as you go along.
At least for you, you've spent alot of time at manfield so it's an accurate bench mark of gains and loses incar setup - lap times don't lie!

    Good luck and enjoy!!!

I have had very little experience on the track compared to a lot of people around here, but I know a little suspension theory.

So purely from a theoretical point of view: Stiffer springs would help. Also with stiffer springs you don't need as much negative camber due to less body roll.

You can calculate your spring rates buy measuring the wire diameter (use calipers), length, number of coils, etc: then put it into a calculator Coil Spring Rate Calculations by Wallace Racing

Maybe you could get a temperature probe that you stab into the tyre, so you can measure the tyre pad temperature after a race. Better than measuring the surface using the laser pointer ones, because the surface temp will change on your cool down lap. Then you can see if the inside or outside of the tyre is getting used more, and adjust camber accordingly.

Drive it til you run out of grip. Then try and get some grip and then find that limit. rinse and repeat.
