Re: Want to borrow spring compressors.

why... just point them in a direction where no one is standing or where there is nothing they will hit.
You prob wont need them for the lowered spring as the spring hight oft he lowered ones is shorter than the OEM ones.

Alternativly you can just use cable ties to hold the spring from expanding when you undo the hats.

Sure as shit don't wanna do that with standard ones coming off... the length and pressure of the standard EG spring coming of the stock shock totally blew me away.... not literally thank god!!.
You can hire them from hire centres for next to nothing if you cannot find anything OP

Re: Want to borrow spring compressors.

Wrap it in a towel. Use a 90* angled alan key and stand on the shock and alan key. Alan key will catch the nut as it flies off and stop it flying across the room.

Bit dodgy and not the 'proper' way of doing things but it does the trick.

The lowering springs wont need a spring compressor for the install either .

Dodgy, all i can see happening apart from the safety issue would be stripping the end treads off the strut and then out comes the Tap and Die set!

Cheers for the tips. It's my first time doing it so would rather get the right tool for the job. I think I'll just hire a set unless someone has some

    Re: Spring compressors.

    Thread is full of fail.

Spring compressors are shit to use on hondas anyway, just go to a tyre shop with a 1/2 inch drive 14mm socket and a six pack....offer six pack and have them buzz the nuts off...just lie them down on the ground with a wheel/tyre at each end....piece of piss.

    Re: Spring compressors.

All good. Sussed it out today. Undid the 14mm nut at the top while the jack was supporting the shock and slowly let the jack down and by doing so let the tension off the spring.
Car is done now handles alot better then it did would like it a little bit lower but it's probably more practical this height.
    Cheers all for the tips!
