Hello fellow car enthusiast.
My name is Nelson. I am the one responsible for creating the “un-official" petition on Bebo that most of you have laughed at.
I am 22 years old and am studying a BMS, majoring in economics, at The University of Waikato. I own a daily driven Evo 4 slammed on 19'z that does a 12 second 1/4 mile, and a 250kw Evo 6, which I am currently rebuilding a 2.3L engine for. Hopefully I'll create over 350kw+ powered with a GT3540R.
I am passionate about all types of motor vehicles- 4WD's, RWD's and even FWD's. If it’s from Japan, I'll appreciate it.
I started this Bebo petition to raise awareness of what will happen on the 1st of December, 2009.
The Land Transport Enforcement Power Amendment Bill 2009 will commence.
I was perfectly aware that a Bebo petition is not legal document.
This law is specifically design to curb the actions and behaviors of "Boy Racers"
I have studied all 45+ pages of this bill. I have even contacted and spoke with local MP, who is also the Head of Transport Select Committee to discuss the finer details of clause 22AB- section (b), also known as “ANTI-CRUSING"
Under this new law, Not only will "laps" become illegal, it will also be illegal to participate in a "cruise"
For example, if you and a few mates go for a "cruise" to the beach etc, regardless of how safe you drive, it will be deemed illegal in the eyes of the law.
I personally do not think that going for a "cruise" with good friends should become illegal, as it contradicts The Bill of Rights Act 1990, sections 17, 18 and 19.
I am in the process of getting section 22AB section (b) amended
By sending those in power- The government, submissions, and I am currently in the process of creating an Official petition.
I have spoken to the local MP (the Head of The Transport Select Committee) - and have gained his support.
I have spoken to the Head of Road Police, Waikato- and have gained his support.
I have spoken to local council- and have gained their support to.
I have had gained the support and backing of over 3000+ individuals and car clubs throughout the North Island.
I wish to gain the support of NZHonda members.
On the 29th of June, 2009 I will be interviewed by Campbell Live, and various other media groups.
All I require is your support. Is that too much to ask from a fellow enthusiast?
I thank you for your time reading this.
Nelson.
