HELLA GAY - Get Some Wheels That Fit
Only in America ... They should just take their badges away
From what I've read about this clip, the guy was smashing windows in the restaurant behind him with a crowbar (or whatever it is he's holding). He didn't respond to the cops so they tasered him (which is what gets him "in the face"). First hit the the taser is ineffective (the barbs hit his hoodie and he pulls them out) and he makes a lunge for the officer with the taser as he's reloading it. Backup cop with pistol sees the move at his currently defenseless partner and fires. Apparently he was still trying to get up, so taser cop shoots him as well. 5 shots from each definitely seems excessive, but it's pretty much how they're trained - if you have to use your gun, make sure they're going to stay down.
Not taking either side as I likely don't know the full details, but my 2c.
*edit* this is obviously relating to the first clip, didn't realise it was a compilation when I wrote all that
Its amazing that people that are appointed a 'protector of the people' can do those sorts of things and get away with it! Why would a cop hop out of his car carrying a gun for a guy who's riding his motorcycle?
I've met some really good cops in NZ, some friends, but i've also seen some arrogant and raciest ones as well. Police wouldnt have half the issues they do if they didnt give people so many reasons to hate them.
Policing is totally different in the USA, it is unfair to compare it to here on any level apart from the job title. Moreso, compare the number of these videos or reports that come out to the number of Police there are. "Holy shit, these 4 officers unjustly bet up a few rampant teenagers... the Police force is so corrupt". Get a life, the actions of a headstrong few don't represent the entire force. Suppose some guy at a local Hell's Pizza makes you a shitty pizza, you don't blame the entire chain. If anything like this video made light here, it would not be brushed under the rug, it would be plastered all over the media and an example would be made of the officers in court.
Anybody who runs the Police down as a whole, just because of hippy videos like this, should have no right to dial 111 when the time comes. It's quite ironic really, who do they expect to protect them when some meth addict breaks into their house armed with an axe and nothing to lose? Superman? Batman? No... the Police. Dealing with the scum of society day in and day out would be sure to put a chip on your shoulder after time too.

Well said Chris
BTW the police don't "get away" with shooting someone. There are investigations and if they didnt follow the rules then they are subject to dicipline too. Too all the haters - try dealing with what they have to put up with and see why mistakes can be made. Nobody is perfect.
Personally i dont see why you or anyone would want to become a cop in NZ, myself i most likely would but with the way NZ is heading with the pansy justice system and lack of what police can actually do... i see it as a joke
meth addicts can be harmless... however...a few have tarred the lot, the slap on the wrists they would get and the charges laid on property owner... meh bring in the chair and empty these holiday campswho do they expect to protect them when some meth addict breaks into their house armed with an axe and nothing to lose
before you know, awake? makes sense, no?

Im sorry but just as you say not all cops are like this does not justify the actions of the few cops portrait in these videos, your saying its ok for a few civilians to get fucked over by the bad few but its ok most of the cops are good and for that reason the bad should be looked over.
BS mate these vids clearly show that they have to much power and should be dealt with accordingly, I mean sure being held hostage or at gun point is an ordeal to go through (believe me I know) but that doesn't mean you should see every action as a threat to your life.
I guy aiming that's right aiming not even swinging a "crowbar" does not need to be shot 10 times, nor does a guy that has his hands up need to be shot ones after being subdued on the floor.
I am sorry I know you may have a point but its not seen by me.
Im not a 'hater', and i never said they dont make mistakes, but theres a difference between a mistake, and breaking someones leg with a baton while they are subdued (did you actually watch the video?). The police do a great job, but theres no justification for anything in that video, or any abuse of their power whether they are caught on camera or not.
Thats what society does best though. Because i have black wheels on my car and a louder than normal muffler, im labelled as a 'boy racer'. Not because ive done anything illegal, but just because of what my car looks/sounds like. Im not even talking about the police, im talking about any person who's not interested in cars, or doesnt appreciate a good looking/sounding car.
Am i saying actual illegal racers shouldnt be punished and have their cars crushed? no, squash them all out of society... but the same should be done when it comes to incidents like those in the video... get rid of all those rogue cops, because they give cops a bad name.
How can you not see the point? It's plain black and white.
Any person, in any position of any industry can take advantage of their given 'power' or act outside of it. What's stopping a mechanic from sabotaging your car, or a computer technician sabotaging your system, to guarantee you return as a repeat customer? What's stopping a disqualified driver from hopping in a car and driving around? This all goes on, and it's a sad fact of life that society can put as many rules and consequences in place as possible to stop something from happening, but at the end of the day it's up to individuals to act within the presented restraints. The Police in the video do not have too much power, they were acting outside of their given power so you cannot treat it the same. It's a simply concept to get your head around:
- Cleaner's are allowed to roam around a business premises to clean afterhours.
- Consuela the cleaner is cleaning an office and steals a laptop.
- Consuela took advantage of her access, and was acting outside of her given power.
- Cleaner's don't have too much power, Consuela is just a cheeky Mexican.
What's to say abusive officers don't get dealt with accordingly? Sadly you don't know they are bad cops until they do something wrong. Much like you don't know Consuela is a cheeky Mexican until she steals something, and it's not like Police have a relaxed selection process (like a number of forum users will know). I know for a fact that bad cops get dealt with. Nowhere did I say that it was OK for Police to beat people around, I simply said that it happens - albeit very rarely in NZ. If this (the video subject) was to happen in NZ the officers would be charged with GBH/murder, and given the media coverage they'd be lucky to ever be employed again or be able to travel to start fresh elsewhere.
Additionally, US and especially NZ Police are nothing to be afraid of compared to many in South East Asia or Eastern Europe... they are the definition of corrupt.

It's slow eh. Took them 5 months just to get me in for an initial interview from the date I sent my full application form in. I was supposed to start training last month but it's on hold till at least late this year![]()
My friend applied towards the end of last year. Got the call up not long ago. Seems it helps to be female.
"I like Rexona sport just because I sweat like a rapist..."
If your Maori or female then it helps. I also wanted to be posted to Chch so it increases the wait. not being sexist or racist too, its just what they want more of

I don't have any sympathy for the people in that video. "Oh I know lets attack an armed police officer with mallet/axe and see if I get shot." Fucking good idea buddy - how did that work out for you?

Or the ones who lay there screaming there not resisting but wont put there hands behind there back. Saw a doozy like that recently. Just because you say your not resisting doesn't mean you are.
People moaning about excessive force piss me off. Yep, let's be nicer and use equal force and have a 50/50 chance of getting killed by the offender![]()
