Thank you guys for your opinions.
Now I will think what to do, to bring my s2k and Accord Type-R, both are left hand wheel drive, to New Zealand, that would be cheaper than buying new one here.

Im not sure what the year of your accord is, but if older than around 2002 you wont be able to register it. be cheaper to just get an Accord Euro R.

Not sure about the legalities of LHD cars in NZ though

    Re: Calling AP1 S2000 owners

Well since ive owned my s2k i've noticed 1st,2nd & 3rd gear are quite notchy and 2nd gear often grinds & lately seems to be getting worse.

I've researched honda tech and s2ki.com recently and decided to ditch the new honda mtf 75w80 I just filled into the tranny as it was rat piss and now currently using a mix of redline mtl & mt 90 which I found has improved things a little bit but isnt as smooth as honda mtf in the cold but redline has given me overall smoother shifts when fully warmed up to normal operating temperatures.

I've ordered some amsoil 5w30 synthetic Mtf which is a direct replacement for the oem honda mtf and many S2k owners in the US swear by this stuff being the best mtf for the s2k to improve hard shifting in all temps.

I have a very similar problem with mine as well as being exceptionally noisy. I'm also using honda MTF oil in my gearbox at the moment.

Let us know how the AMSOIL works out. Maybe I'll change mine again if it helps any.

Yeah I'll post up my Amsoil mtf results soon when I fill it into the tranny this weekend hopefully!

Failing that I will try a straight redline MTL which is a 70w80 virtually identical viscocity to oem honda mtf but fully synthetic and has better shear stability and protection from what ive read. Bnt sell redline and theres a chap called Dave at Autofrance out south who sells amsoil oil products in Auckland.

for a early model s2000, it is expected as long as its ok when it warms up.
as for racing gear, alll you need is a pair of $40 overalls from a safety shop and a helmet.
but anyways, if you come, ill take you for a spin in my car

    Re: Calling AP1 S2000 owners

I jacked the ap1 up last night and drained the existing mtf oil which was a mix of redline mtl & mt90 which worked well when warm but not ideal for cold winter temps probably more suiter to summer conditions or track use where temps get higher.

Anyways I pumped in about 1.5L of Amsoil 5w30 Synthetic mtf in the transmission and went for a test drive for an hour of spirited driving out near whenupai and wow the difference was noticable! it performed great when cold and held up nicely when fully warmed the shifts are so much smoother throughout the gears and my notchy 2nd/3rd gear shifts have greatly improved. Its still early days but so far so good, will monitor shifting performance over the next few months.

I'd recommend Amsoil 5w30 mtf for any s2k owner experiecing a hard shifting tranny!

hi just wondering whether any s2k owners on here have removed their stock cat? if so what are the performance gains like, is it a worthwhile modification? any draw backs at all as a result etc.

    Please post your feed back!

i done my long time ago. result is very positive. loose a bit of low end, but the mid to top end is sensational. engine more happy to rev.

    exhaust(factory) sounds like something like E46 M3.

Cool, did you install a proper test pipe in the cats place or go to pistop or the likes to have them weld in a straight pipe in its place? Also did you receive any engine check lights after the removal of the cat?

So your exhaust is stock besides the removal of the cat correct? I wonder why you lost power in the low rpm range as I would have presumed by removing the cat in theory more free flowing exhaust gases should equal better power across the whole rev range one would have thought.

Any chance I could hear your exhaust in person as I'm lookin at installing a j's racing test pipe to my stock exhaust in future but dont want the exhaust to sound like a tin can or droney

    Re: Calling AP1 S2000 owners

yeah removed mine for a js test pipe, no prob with check light etc ...

seems to be similar to balance's result, low end seems marginally less, but way better revs and power above 5000rpm is much better...

it made the exhaust sound less low and kinda metallic but only marginally, definitely not droney.... but it sounds way more angry when opened up for sure....

    Re: Calling AP1 S2000 owners

i'm the same as sol and balance, replaced the cat with a test pipe.
low end, maybe slightly less. high end, maybe slightly more... hard to tell since its not a big mod.
the sound of the exhaust sounds similar, i didnt notice much difference.
i also made a CEL fix adaptor, not sure if it was needed but i made one anyways.

    Re: Calling AP1 S2000 owners

Question regarding the first facelift of AP1's.

I thought they went to 17" wheels, improved brakes and different suspension in 2003 and not 2002...but this one has the 17" wheels, wondering if it is facelift?

    Cheers again for the help.
Want a '99 EK9? Or maybe some PS3 ProDrums? Perhaps a Champ White Fibreglass bonnet?
