Re: Anyone had their DC5 or EP3 certed recently for ADJ suspension

Interesting info from Bazda before it was removed. So it looks like the LVVTA will maintain a list of brands on their website that have been approved for people to use without further testing, although I couldn't seem to find it on their site yet.

I'm wondering where Mugen adjustable suspension would fit into this too, especially if purchased through Honda themselves.

Re: Anyone had their DC5 or EP3 certed recently for ADJ suspension

NO REPUTABLE BRAND WILL PASS CERTIFICATION unless they provide the requirements listed!!! quote me on that!
even tein New zealand doesnt wanna spend 2gran to get their products crack tested, because they said there's not many DC5 around, and not worth their money,

Even ohlins failed to comply, especially those XYZ, D2, Ksport, buddyclub, etc..

To pass cert you'll have to provide a copy of the company's procedure of manufacturing the steering arm bracket off from the front strut, and what metal used, how did they weld it, have they cracked tested them etc etc etc etc.

infact the factory struts steering arm are not neatly welded compared to aftermarket brands,

there are positive and negative about this "new law".. its for everyone's safety, but the new dc5/ep3 owners are not happy

I got a reply from LVVTA today saying that they are currently in process of approving Tein. Sadly no ETA..

Are we thinking of different crack testing?

I'm thinking of the test they do where they put it in a solution and it highlights any little hair line cracks. I had that to my gearbox internals when i had a failure - some parts where sweet others like the diff werent!

Not hit it with a hammer and destroy it hahah

thats non destructive testing and it can show up surface imperfections cracks etc but it cant show the inside of a weld.

So what's required for these shocks? The guy that did my gearbox bits did some no name camber arms for a drifter because the certifier requested it. Destructive testing wasn't required in that instance.

have a read of the link in post 27, on the bottom of page 3.

there is no requirement for camber arms to be sectioned as they are not a steering component.

Yes, I have this problem as well with my customers when they go Neil and failed with EP3 and DC5.
No matter HKS Tein Buddyclub Cusco all fail ~!
    (I bet Mugen's ok)

But who got their car certed BEFORE is alright. <--- this is bs, if it's dangerous they should cancell all LVV they passed before and 2nd hand factory shocks will become $300 each shock ~!

There's a tricky way to get passed but you will need to spend money on it, or just wait, whoever company get their suspension certed who will make the most money out of it.

^ Cheap sleeves like that sent to Racelign/Suspension Tech/George Stocks to be matched with bilsteins/koni's will probably outpeform a lot of the coilover kits out there! Probably severe overkill if only going for looks though.

Shameless Plug: I have some DC5/EP3 front struts if anyone is interested

we have off the shelf bilsteins for the dc5/ep3 and use our own threaded sleeves but they also require crack testing and we have not had that done nor do i believe we ever will do it. i have had 1 run in with a customer trying to get a cert on the bilsteins but not even bilstein have the correct documentation to support the construction of the shocks to please the cert man
im not a hater im a realist...

Guys, alternatively just wait for teins (autolign) product, I received an email from justin (LVVTA technical dept).
He said ONLY TEIN are in the line up at the moment or currently on process, although BC racing tried too but they take ages providing what LVVTA need.
He mentioned that once Autolign completed the requirements, it will be most likely to pass through,

I wonder what if you have a blown factory struts and looking for a aftermarket replacement struts like koni, monroe, etc?? That means they not comply and cant be warranted thn? Im not talking the likes of dc5, ep3 type r's, but im refering to other models that have a similar setup as those cars like my stream, civic eu and es model? This is bs to me...
