Thread: V8 Super Tourers Inaugural Round, Hamptons Downs Feb 2012 *** Pictures Welcome***

Thought i would chuck up a thread for discussion and pictures from the Super Tourers round at Hampton Downs.

I go there nice and early so i could catch the Honda cup cars during their practice session, unfortunately there was a little fog and they had to wait for that to clear so the marshals could see the track.

They had a huge field of 29 cars and everyone was looking great out on the track. Mark Walters was calving up again and Richard in his EK with his new motor wasn't looking to shabby. I overheard a lot of good comments from people about the hondas as i was walking around and the commentator seemed to enjoy the racing too.

The super tourers looked awesome out there on the track and at the end of the day Greg Murphy came out on top in the first race.

Really looking forward to tomorrow and i have a metric tonne of pictures that ill need to sort through and upload. Ill see if i cant get a few uploaded tonight.

What happened today Kane?

I left right after practice yesterday with a chronic shake threw whole car pedals, steering wheel seat made me feel sick at end the short straight. Which pain arse the car was flying on acceleration.

Tried replacing, Axles, Striping axles down replacing bits from other ones, Took hanger bearing out check that. Wheel bearings, Ball joints the lot. Changed back to prelude brakes from the nsx set up, changed wheels. Stuck on axle stands and did a in the air dyno that made me at least smile. Which didn't show anything.

Only thing left on car check is Clutch / Pressure Plate / Flywheel or the New gearbox which is hugely a likely it came out one car and then into mine.

The car only shakes death on deceleration and while in gear. Take out gear it goes away.

Will be up to watch you guys tomorrow and pack up rest my stuff. So gutted, I could possibly try change clutch kit and gearbox before tomorrow but honestly Im completely fuc* and out energy, and I really don't want ruin it for rest guys if my car went Ka-poot on track and caused a delay some sort.



On positive note how you go Brent?

Could be an engine mount?

Engine mounts 85a Hasport Solids there in perfect condition.

28 cars, with Kane gone and that guy who put it into the wall yesterday in practice.

Hopefully they show the honda cup guys on tv3 tomorrow. Would love to be there watching..

The lads were doing well today, Grey CRX and BigAL have massive sleeved B18 (2 POWA! However Mark Walters (almost stock B18CR power levels, (not its not a B18CR tho)) drives the pants off his EF and out breaks many through the tight and twisty. Good 3rd place for him today, track is too fast for that little B18 in Marks EF.

Good to see a few people and meet others.
