Hi everyone.
This thread will serve as a general placeholder for SIMM 2012 events.
So far we have confirmed the trackday for Monday the 26th of March, and will soon confirm the social/extra curricular activities.

Wow only just saw this now!! Hmmm will have a look at the bank and see if I can make the trip down.
Don't listen to what I say, I make shit up as I go.
Will plan to put the race car on its first shakedown run.
Unsure if my car will be ready in time but I'll come watch at the least. Hopefully this will help motivate me.
A few of us Dunedin guys are thinking of making the trip up. Probably won't be racing but keen to meet the Christchurch guys and get motivated to get our own track cars.

1 - Is the factory battery brace secure enough?

Give me a PM and I can take a look sometime beforehand. The factory brace is enough, a cable tie or rope (I have seen it) would not be.
A quick note to people:
You don't need a fast car, or to do "everything possible before the day" to enter.
One thing I see year after year is a number of people being too concerned about things like getting new headers or suspension, getting slicks, getting a new seat and harness, or other pointless crap (in the scheme of things) like that... and ending up forfeiting the entry due to lack of funds to do what is really required (pads, fluids, entry fee), or even worse: ending up with a car in parts. Just give it a shot, there is never a case of your car not being up to it. It's a day for your average Joe Driver to have a play on the track and not feel under the same pressure you would at a proper competition event.

^Word. NIMM in the past has seen all sorts of exciting driving in unlikely vehicles, like an old E28 5-series on stock suspension. You're not gearing up to race at Macau, you're going out on the track to learn how to control your car at a speed greater than you would be able to on the streets and generally just have a lot of fun. There will (hopefully) always be another 'IMM to drive at so if you can't get that Hello Kitty muffler on in time, don't fit it and have it on for the next one.

The problem I have is I already know what new part I need. Unfortunately it's the engineI'm pretty sure I'll go through it's entire oil supply in a couple of laps. If it was running better I'd have no problem fielding a D15.
<----- This guys black ITR used to drink 4 litres of oil in a trackday, it's all part of the deal sometimes.
But seriously, just come along and have a go. Everyone has to start somewhere!
If you're that scared of breaking something, it's even more encouragement to have a car dedicated to the track.

It does somewhat resemble the deployment of smoke grenades.
just take a 4L of oil with you, you will do maybe 20km a session max and it wont drink that much. ben will attest how smokey my car was and i only used 2L in an entire day.
What sort of date are we looking at to have the entry fees in for the track day?
Late February at the latest if you can, understandable that not everyone will be able to achieve that.
Do you need any marshal's/volunteers for the day? I'm keen to come up but most probably won't take the SiR on the track this time. Keen to make myself useful though.

Remember that time I took your EK9 for a spin around the track in the wet.......Wasn't that your daily?
What's involved with Marshalling? I'm keen to help out with the day if I can't drive. Would I need training or something?
