Location: New Plymouth | Re: Does a manual conversion require an ECU? what ecu do u have? obd0 or obd1 With obd0 you desolder R68 then resolder it to R67. Both of these are to the left of the 28pin chip. Its pritty easy to do and only takes like 3 mins. If your not too good with soldering any electrician should be able to do it for really cheap. OBD1 is ever easier, Remove resister on RP17 just use some wire cutters then solder a price of wire on RP18. Theses are below the 28pin chip. |

Don't use wire cutters at all on the ECU's. Just use desolder braid or solder sucker. P.S to give you an example of Auto vs manual ECU tuning. OBD1 P30 MANUAL=5800vtec 8300revlimit OBD1 P30 AUTO =5800vtec 7800revlimit (identical ignition timing as manual with SLIGHTLY different fueling) So really they are NOT detuned at all (power is all in timing anyways, the fueling is so similar) just lower revimit thats all Last edited by Coupe-R; 29th June 2008 at 08:17 PM. | |

You can use any ecu with any engine, You just have to make sure the sensors are right and that its running a map thats right for ur engine. Both those problems can also be fixed by chipping your ecu and reprogramming it. Coupe-R should be able to chip a ecu with the right base map for your engine. |
