Headers, Intake(which you have) and exhaust and maybe a tune is all I would do. Even then your not going to get much out of it. Not even worth spending the money to be honest. You might aswell swap it out for a vtec sohc at minimum as your would gain more from that than any mods. Horny devils engine would be a good sohc buy if he hasnt sold it.

Re: How 2 get maxium performance from a D16a

1st post ey.... welcome.

I/H/E mods will do u good for quite some times. however, it depends on how much $$$ u want to spend before u get sick of it and realise that u'd better off with vtec.

i'd say just tune it so the engine run efficiently so it can help you saving your $$$ for a vtec unit.

Re: How 2 get maxium performance from a D16a

Is it even fuel injected? I dont know my d16a's

If its carbed not worth wasting money on and just buy a injected car.
If its injected then save up for a turbo, Thats the only way you will really make power.

Re: How 2 get maxium performance from a D16a

buy my motor and ecu for $1500 and add a set of headers and ull have 160 HP (+ theres more power in there with a dyno tune) up from ur 115 wich ur current motor has. could also turbo the motor later on as the ecu is retunable

i also have all the injected bits in the shed too

Tow it behind a car that doesn't have a D in it? te-he-he

Seriously, you'll be wasting whatever money you put in it.

Re: How 2 get maxium performance from a D16a

Take both resonators out, get it impounded by the police, and by the time you get it back you'll have saved enough money on petrol and fines for a turbo kit. If your into the whole cosmetic thing then I'd say a d-ninja turbo would be more up your alley than a b-series swap... due to the added "wank factor".

You obviously didn't buy the car for performance. Drive it, enjoy it, then when you want something quicker sell it for a factory quick car. DONT even try doing a D-B swap

Re: How 2 get maxium performance from a D16a

Well by the sounds of it, hes not got alot of money. And theres not many "cheep" mods you can do to that engine that'll give you good power. IMO his best bet is to save the money for a b or h serries engine that responds more to mods. Look at Jase - he spent a shitload on his D serries and it made the same power as a b18c. (IT was mean seeing a D screaming its nuts off, and i know he wanted to be different so im not bagging him here)

Re: How 2 get maxium performance from a D16a

Apologies for the potential thread hi-jack. But with the D16 and ZC's being from the same family, would their mounts be the same? Primarily the engine mounts, but gearbox too? Would your (Jases) engine bolt up to an L3 ZC box?

Cheers

I'd say don't unless you want to be paying some fines off for noisy car

Again no offence here, but if you have to sell your bonnet to pay some ACC fines off, then are you in the position to actually spend money on your car?
