Location: Auckland | ignition barrel help Hi There, I drive a bb4 prelude. I have notice that my ignition barrel is not working properly. When i stopped the car then turned off the car, pulled the key out u know it's not right because it missing a click sound. and when you open the door the car will beep madly as it thinks the key is still in ignition. Also i think the steering wheel lock is not there as well. So is there a way to fix this? It still start the car up alright! If i change to a second hand ignition barrel then does that mean i have to use different key to start the car? Can i get some on the adjust the new barrel (if i bought one) with my old key? Cheers Mike

But after my build(halted at the moment as need to save for engine build) finished then my ignition barrel doesn't work properly and that really piss me off. The guy in Otahuhu setup my door lock not sure if they can do ignition! Maybe they will be my other choice?

Location: Wellington | Re: ignition barrel help If you wanted to have the matching key all round, your best bet might be going to a wreckers, like pick-a-part here in Wellington (or whatever is similar up there) and pulling the locks from another bb4 that's been wrecked. Its not a hard job (as Im sure you know), and if the locks don't come with a key, any locksmith can just get the code from the locks and cut you a new key. I had to do it after my EF was thieved and it was not at hard as I thought. Cost 15 bucks plus 20 for the locks. Eashy. Just my $0.02 |

Location: Auckland | Re: ignition barrel help Locksmiths can work either way. Make a key for a existing barrel, or make the barrel work with the existing key. If you get a new barrel they will be able to make it work with the keys you already have. Auckland Mobile locksmiths is a good company to deal with. 027 4989 048. He will come to you. |
