Also, does it have the correct fluid in the gearbox? Do a search but you will probably find it needs a 10W-30 SAE-SJ or the genuine Honda MTF fluids, if it is thicker you might find some problems arise. TuLaLiT, have you checked the adjustment?

| Senior Member 700rpm (Idle) | the fluid in the gearbox should be fine~ but i guess is the clutch wasn't set right or probably. it's a standard clutch. but when i step it down...it feels like no pressure on it. could this be the problem?? and when my car is turned off, it shifts very smooth, but once i start it up and trying to get into 1st gear.! it is just so hard to get in. does this happened to any of you guys?? thx for all helps~ btw i have a short shift on it aswell...but this shouldn't make any difference aye?? ![]() |

| Senior Member 7,000rpm (Peak Power) | Yeah when my clutch blew i had the exact same problem. The car wouldn't go into gear when it was started. But as soon you i'd turn it off it would slip into gear fine, well it was on and off... sometimes it would and sometimes it wouldn't,... turned out my clutch had been badly demolished.. i'd get it checked out, wouldn't want one of those springs on your clutch to go thru your gearbox!!! |

Location: Auckland | went into a couple of repco stores to try and find some of the 10w-30 tranny oil as obviously Honda are not open, neither really had anything below about 70. The one in grey lynn tried to tell me that no one uses 10w-30 in the gearbox and that it was only for the mota, and when he looked in his little book it told him to use castrol gtx which really seemed confusing. Then had to go to the Botany store as well (thanks to trade parts not giving me a clutch plate with the right number of splines) and the guy there was quite good, but in the end i am going to wait till tomorrow to get the real deal from Honda. Is it just me or does it seem strange that no one else seems to stock that particular grade of gearbox oil?

Location: Auckland | yea, but if it is a common oil for Honda box's i would expect repco and the likes to stock a replacement (not Honda brand obviously) given that they are a common vehical

| Senior Member 3,000rpm (Grandma Drag) | I had the same problem as you. so i pulled out the box and found it to be the clutch plate had twisted itself (drag racing) the springs where loose in the plate and the pressure plate was ground out on the inside edge and part of the pressure plate was had broken off and was sitting loose in there. So I would say it is the clutch, you would prob pay about $500 or so for the clutch and 4 hours labour etc... thats if it is the clutch ![]()

Location: Auckland | Ive read in 2 different user manuals for my car (DA6 teg) to use - and only use 10w30 or Honda MTF in the gearbox, and I do, without any problems. 10w30 oil isnt that expensive - $40-ish for 5L-ish, as for that crap about additives not being made for a gearbox, if that was the case, i dont think Honda would reccomend it. IMO anything else is a waste of coin. |
