Probably comes from the driver resting his or her arm on the gear knob, or being overly rough during side-to-side gear changes.

Cheers GF-X, have got a few closer veiws of that allready.
EB1, think that may be the best thing to do, drill it out, and put a big bolt through with a ny-lock nut on the end, might try that tonight

ok but the point of the joint is to swivel up and down so if you do it up tight with a bolt it's not going to move anymore.

Just be careful how to decide to attach it. Seriously tho for $100 including short shifter for an ITR one just go for it. Thats cheap. The ITR shifters are better than EG6 anyways!

Why?
They all look the same to me...

Oh, and think about it, it those two 'arms' are spread apart more, there will be some sideways play, they are, after all, supposed to only allow movement up & down right?

They are quite different aye, thicker so more postive shift feel, and the shifter it self is much nicer and puts the shifter in a better position i reckon.

Yeh if there is any gap there will be sideways play=no good

i drilled mine out and put a bolt through,
if u do this make sure u use a bolt with lock tite or a lock washer.
makes it easyer to remove for sure
