Questions re DA6 LSD

Hi there, I have a few questions regarding DA series integras and their LSDs.

How do you tell the difference between LSD and non-LSD gearboxes (and I can't "do a skid" as the box isn't in a car 8) ) that come with manual B16A powered DA integras? Were the options different between XSI and RSI, or between facelift/non facelift?

What's the easiest/cheapest way to get an LSD into a B16A1 powered RSI, if it doesn't come with one factory? Will the ZC LSD fit?

I don't know any of the trans codes and what they mean either, so if someone can enlighten me that would be awesome.

Cheers

If you look through the hole that the driveshaft goes into and you can see through to the otherside its a open diff, if you cant its LSD goodness

ZC LSD wont fit and if u find one well ur extreamly lucky as they were the rearest of the LSD's made.

the best and easiest way is to put a complete LSD gearbox into the car as the boxes are different internally and do require a bit of grinding

NON LSD

LSD

hmm where to start.

there are 4 different types of da6 here in NZ.

non facelift xsi
non facelift rsi
facelift xsi
facelift rsi

the 1991.7 to 1993.3 integra rsi was the quickest out of the all.

the RSI is the "downspec" model. it doesnt have aircon, powersteering, it has wind up windows, no centrel locking, manual adjust mirrors, no wiper on the back window.

RSI's are quite rare, its pretty much imposible to find one, never mind finding one with an lsd its just not guna happen.

the difference between facelift and non facelift are:

b16a1 vs b16a2
different factory bodykit, font an rear. (forget about sideskirts, they are fuckin rare)
different tail lights
different gearbox
different loom and computer
speedo has 8200rpm on gen 2 and 8000 on gen 1
gen1 has 160hp and gen 2 has 170hp.

gearbox years:

from my understanding, da6's had different gearbox everyear they were produced.

89-90 gearbox: S1
90-91 gearbox: J1
92-93 gearbox: Y1

also to my understanding lsd gearboxes only came from a DA9 integra. which is the 1800 dohc non vtec model.

LSD code = YS1, but they were only an option, so even if you have a ys1 it could still be non LSD.

theres heaps of stuff about them, im lucky enough to have a genuine japanese brouchure from 1992 explaining options and pictures when DA6's were brand spankers.

heres a few pics from Japan:

sorry to correct you but DA9's came with A1 boxes, which i have in my crx. identical to an S1 (same ratios) and were connected to B18b's. Lsd's were an option on DA6/8 models. from what ive read about the DA9 they never used any box other than the A1 are were not offered with an Lsd.

Y1s were only made for the EF8 and EF9, all facelift DA6 and DA8 had the YS1, LSD was still an option. A1 boxes are taller geared for the non VTEC motors.

Chassis codes DA6 10XXXXX S1
DA6 11XXXXX J1
DA6 12XXXXX YS1 (facelift)

The only boxes to have a LSD option was the Y1 and YS1, if you have a DA with a Y1 then its been swapped at some stage as a lot have been by now

revlimit beat me to the corrections.
even supplied with chassis codes eh, needed for the rare double synco that the YS1 has strangly on 1/2 not 3/4 which is used the most

remember folks, u can get any HYDRO LSD to fit a YS1 (I have prooved it) and so have many others on G2ic.com and honda-tech.com

a YS1 is a bigger box (2.5 than all the other cable boxes and is nearly a hydro box with cable bell housing and mounts
