Ignition leads resistance....?

Just a quick question. When is a good indication that the lead is stuffed or getting dodgy?

I ran the meter across my leads today and got ( in order of longest to shortest ) 10 ohms, 8 , 7.5 and 5 ohms is that about right/normal or not?

Cheers

oh and by the way y cant test it with ur multi meter as it loads it down

u need to use something like a mega which puts a lil more juice through it than the 9v that the multi meter uses, this provides a much more accurate reading.

the things u learn at school that u never think ull use again

They are all relative. Your leads sound about right. You usally get one or 2 leads on a set fail rather than all at once and yours do seem to be about the right resistance. There are lower resistance leads you can buy, but that doesn't make them any better. General idea is 8k (and that kilo, not kila) ohm per foot of cable. The likes of Top Gun and other will probably be less

resistance figure isnt so important aslong is 1 is not really high or really low, whats important is that they are all resonably similar.

and using a multimeter to test is fine it may not be the text book way of doing it but its the real world not a library.
