The bogging thread.

Ever since I aquired my EG9 it's had this low RPM bogging under load. This usually happens below or around 2000rpm. I put my foot down maybe 20% throttle and the car hesitates and splutters until it goes over 2500rpm then it revs fine all the way to redline.

I just want to start this thread for people to describe their past experiences and fixes for this bogging problem.

Im guessing it's something to do with ignition e.g. sparkplugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor, coil, timing?

Or maybe fueling eg. injectors, clogged fuel filter, busted fuel pump?

Please share your past problems and fixes. Thanks

Maybe completely unrelated, but my DA8 used to do that all the time - but hasn't since the alternator was replaced. Anyone care to comment if this is just a coincidence?

i would say sparks most likely, or get your alternator output checked.

got the same problem with my da6 changed everything from spark plugs to fuel pump relay. had it dyno'd a little while ago and discovered that it has an inconsistant air/fuel ratio! translation - the computer can't make its mind to run at stoichiometric. it is eithern running stupidly rich or really lean! they r pretty sure its a fuel related problem not ignition.
check your :

MAP sensor
Computer
Air temp sensor
Engine temp sensor
Computer power/earth

anything to do with engine management!

good luck

you cant rely on engine light codes because sometimes there is a problem but it will not flash because the computer sees that it is operating in its normal area! eg. your map sensor reads from 2-6 (this is putting it real simple!) you drive along and your map sensor should b reading say 5 to the computer but its not its on 2 so obviously there is a problem but because 2 is in the normal operating range it doesn't flash a code untill perhaps it jumps to 7 which is not normal!

dyno your car you will know within minutes what the problem is!

Just to let everyone know my bogging problem was fixed by replacing my leads with NGK Blues. This also cured my idle dropping problem.
