coilovers... rubber top hats ok?

I just got some coilovers from the states
And the top-hats / locators are made of rubber.
Some other bands are alloy.
What I wanna know is, does it matter? the the alloy ones better or is it just a con.. and it doesn't matter what the locators are made of?

This is them:

The rubber top hats are fine - in fact you dont really need them at all if your factory ones are still in one piece.

Those rubber rings are O rings - slide them over your shocks before fitting the threaded tube. this will centre the tube and also stop it rattling against your shocks. just use the o rings that allow the best fit
