Re: 20/20 - Your opinion on Aliens

there definitely has to be life out there , the whole universe of planets is made up of the same elements that we have on earth apparently and there are millions and millions of planets out there and we cant be the only one that has life on it considering we are a young planet compared to others that can be billions and billions and billions of years older than earth

now if we are only young and our technology can already get us into space imagine other alien races technological advances and where they can go/have been already

as for them visiting earth ? there have been alot of sightings of ufo's where there have been multiple people seeing the same thing like kaikoura , and Mexico city where millions saw multiple spacecraft hovering over the city for a while

i guess we will just have to wait till the US govt declassifies and comes out in the open about all the stuff they are apparently covering up to really know the truth but the likely hood of that happening?????

I definitely believe in other life out there but unless they come looking for us I can't see us discovering anything in our life times anyway. Space is just too damn vast for the speeds we're able to travel. Even at the speed of light it would take too long.
Need to develop 'deep sleep' or start sending people through black holes to see what happens

Yeah, never going to happen.

The world government/illuminati/elite/puppet masters (whatever ya wanna call it) are so fkn tight lipped about a whole bunch of stuff (spanning back centuries) the world really should be allowed to know, IMO. The whole world system sucks the big fat one to the point where it wouldn't be so bad IMO if little green men were to come down to our piss poor excuse for a planet and start blowing shit up. I'm sick of conformity, as far as I'm concerned the so called "international community" can go take a flying leap ...

Yeah I'm a negative c**t, don't take it to heart. It's the INTERNETS and I'm allowed a moment.

Question: What do people think might happen to some very well known/large scale world religions should anyone ever admit to or prove to the population of the world that there are infact little green/blue/grey men floating around in space all the time (with their 1000 pound vtax stealth scooters) and yes, we no doubt have been visited by/interacted with/caught/anal probe'd these intersteller species numerous amounts of times over hundreds of years ?

Didn't see the 20/20 show. But yeah, I do believe in the existance (of any from) of others in outer space. I think it's downright LuDaKrIs for people to think otherwise.

Yep, I sure am a nutcase.

/end rant

Depends whether you believe the universe is expanding at an increasing or decreasing rate or not expanding at all. But yeah, the truths about the universe are definitely beyond comprehension for the normal human mind.

So umm... whats at the edge of the universe? if its '78 billion light years across'? There has to be 'something'... and if so, its not really the end then is it? Rah!

And if its ever expanding, whats there before it expanded?

There are so many retarded theories out there, people have to try and decide what they are measuring before they even make calls on it. Some say its growing/expanding - others say its the same size and its the spaces in between that are getting bigger (how is that different from expanding or contracting!?!), some say its infinite etc etc.

As far as I am concerned everything that exists is automatically an infinite thing, as anything out of that range is imaginary or undefiniable. Everything that is there is always there, and everything that isn't - isn't. If the universe was just a pixel, then to that pixel it is everything and boundless. If it wasn't infinite, there there would have to be something else there to measure it against and automatically it becomes a subgroup of two or more things that make up "everything".

Anyway, given that we know we can get regular visits from comets and other space bodies which are travelling at 10s of 1000s of kilometres an hour in hundreds of year intervals, we can see all sorts of crazy stuff in the sky and are constantly learning crazy new things and just within the confines of our own world we have learnt of fungus which munches on radiation and fishies that live off nitrogen, and we are aware of types of particles which do not have any concept of the distance between each other then to me life on other locations is not a wildly hard concept to fathom.

Aside from Matty, I haven't ever met anyone from out of this world however.

Re: 20/20 - Your opinion on Aliens

One theory is that as matter can not be destroyed or created, only changed is that as the universe expands (dont even try to think 'whats outside it') it stretches like a rubber band. Same amount of rubber, just stretched. As it gets to the end of its 'stretch' it comes back into itself and once the matter can't be compressed any more...you get a 'Big Bang' aka the beginning of the universe and the universe stretches out again.
Another thing to ponder is that if its expanding faster then the speed of light, they think they're able to see the formation of starts that happened millions of years ago.

Re: 20/20 - Your opinion on Aliens

This guy at my work is at uni studying space all all that lingo. I asked him if space ever ends, then he was jibbering on about how space does end. Space is like a sphere, although to get to the edge would take millions and millions of years, beyond the sphere apparently there is a 4dimensional space...?

4th dimension is time, then theres subspace which is thought of as the 5th dimension which links everything together,(dark matter).

You can see depth, width and height. Time you have no control over time you can only stay with the flow. Maybe in parrall universes time is driffent as in you grow young or its much slower and a day for us is a year for them.

Possibilitys are endless.

Thats just so crazy. Imagining it makes my head hurt! Its a strange feeling that there is so much more to the universe than just Earth! Then you imagine the size of us, then how big we are compared to the universe and this 4th dimension or even 5th...scary...

I warned you. Now I have to destroy you.

Ahem.

Consider this.

Think of the universe as being made up of all the grains of sand in the Sahara Desert. Mankind sits here on Earth's grain. For convenience our grain of sand is coloured black, not gold like the other grains. Also in the Sahara are over one billion other black grains of sand. But I won't tell you exactly where.

Of course, the Sahara has been there for thousands upon thousands of years, but to help our calculations we'll say just 1000 years. Our grain of sand is pretty old, and it's been around for about 330 years. The thing is we, as "modern" humans, have only lived on it for about the past 7 minutes and 40 seconds, give or take a few fractions of a second. Which hasn't given us a whole heap of time to look for other grains. Accordingly, the odds of us stumbling upon one of the other grains, since we'll each only be able to search for about 0.18 of a second. So rule us out of the equation.

Now, let's assume one of the billion other grains of black sand have been occupied for a massively long time, like 500 years. So after spending the first few hours developing into a sophisticated black-grain-finding society they stride forth into the Desert looking for other life. With one billion of them to find they're turning them up every few seconds. Trouble is, the odds of them finding our grain are one billion to one before they've even started. Not good odds. They may strike it stupidly lucky though. Maybe they found our grain 9 minutes ago. Shame we weren't here then...

Sorry, I'm really tired. It was going somewhere.

Re: 20/20 - Your opinion on Aliens

Nice relaxing read after a night out in town. Only thing I find hard to comprehend is the 4th/5th dimension outside the boundaries of the universe. Like you think of space as the definition of nothingness. But if space was created by the big bang then what was there before that? How can you go even more empty than vacuum?

Before this universe was another one that imploded and created this one (according to one of the theories). The previous universe was created by the one before it and so on and so on......but what was the beginning of the beginning?...
Time has been simplified due to the invention of the watch and the calender, but even time isn't 100% constant. At the speed of light it stops (apparantly).
Everything seems so mind boggling bu remember it wasn't so long ago (relatively speaking) that man thought the earth was flat, it ended at the horizon and the sun revolved around the earth. Look how far we've come.
I'm not personally religious but can see how it would be a convienient way to explain things, especially way back when religion begun. Much easier to say God created all then explain things beyond even current human comprehension.
As with everything everyone has their own take on things and no one is wrong until someone proves their theory right.

As for abductions... who knows. I don't want to get started on that one as it will just end up being another one of my essay-like posts.
I don't know about the universe being infinite in size in the way that it is like a flat plane that goes on forever, I was always under the impression that gravity pull everything into the centre so it became like an infinite ball. They seem essentially the same but fuck, infinity is a tough concept to get your head around haha

Abductions are possible but I don't know what to trust... So many hoaxes.

Definitely believe in extra terrestial life, though... Maybe instead of carbon based lifeforms they'd be silicone and all look like Pamela Andersen
