Re: are radar detectors illegal?

being a professional driver, falling asleep or even just feeling fatigued (sp) is not something you wanna do piloting 40 odd ton of machinery around nz's awesome roads. They have the max driving limits for a reason.

the last time i drove tired/sleepy was back from nimm last year, i dont remember whole sections of the drive home, only bits and pieces, like when i opened my 3rd demon, when we stopped for gas at sanson and getting into bed. NEVER AGAIN! i was honestly a danger to everyone, if something had of happened unexpectidly that would have been the end

It's nuts ae when that happens! there is nothing you can do. Talking to yourself helps a bit (just pretend your a rally co-driver ) but ultimately if your at that point you need to pull over

Re: are radar detectors illegal?

I've done some drives when I'm tired. Best thing for me is having the window down and music blasting, keeps me wide awake.
DO NOT put your heater on cause getting comfortable is just gonna make you more tired.

As a chronic insomniac myself that's really dangerous as well.

Might not fall asleep but the reflexes and exercise of good judgement in emergency situations are way down.

I havn't had an issue with it, always pretty allert when driving.. I couldn't help it that Ian wanted a ride to cambridge and I had a 5am start at work after nimm!

I do tend to think I've been time travelling though...

5 days straight without sleep ? No way.
Even I couldn't stay awake that long, and that was in my best years !

These days I'm starting to struggle come 4am, sometimes.
