Yeah my mrs signed up the other day to one in the mall, i found out and got her to ring IRD and cancel it. Upon ringing them she then found the people were now her permanent tax agents and rerouted all her stuff to their address, when they said one off thing.

I changed that pretty quick and canceled the refund cheque she got issued, Now she got a refund and saved $150 more they were going to take.

yea but how is that fair? i understand that the IRD wants there money, but im sure people who are owed money want it too.

kinda sad how if u owe the IRD money and fill in a tax return you have to pay, but if they owe you money theyre under no obligation to pay
