Re: TAX Refund..

the first way is all well and good till u have to factor in the acc earners leavy, so add 1.3% of ur gross wage/salery to the total tax calculated in the first link. then compare it to the total tax u actually paid for the year, then ull be able to wor out the ammount u are owed/have to pay

Personal tax summary calculation for 2008 (by tool name)

Re: TAX Refund..

^^ x2.
A percentage of their weekly pay going back as tax does not mean we're working together when we pay their weekly pay in the first place!

Re: TAX Refund..

What's the form you can ask them to send to your house that shows you if they owe you or you owe them?
And is it possible to get one of those forms for previous years?
I don't know how much I earned in 06 so can't really fill it out online.
Also is it possible to find out if you've already done this for a certain year?
I forgot if I got my refund for 05.
TIA.

Yes but if you register online it shows your earnings for the period and has the ACC levy included etc.

I'll do a NZhondas Tax help for regular joes!
YOU CAN WORK OUT YOUR TAX ONLINE. IF YOU ASK IRD TO DO THIS FOR YOU AND THEY WORK OUT YOU OWE MONEY YOU MUST PAY IT!!

Here is the solution:
Follow the steps below to work it out yourself. Even if you owe money just don't file a tax summary and no one will be the wiser (IRD them selves even say this so its not illigal)

1: register an account with IRD on the website, you have to activate it by calling them also.
2: log in and view all the periods for the last 5 years (you can view earnings, student loan details etc)
NOTE: you can only file a tax return for the last 5 periods any older and they are wiped.
3: once you know the earnings for that period click on "work it out online" then income tax

4: click on "personal tax summary calculation"
5: use the details from your login so you know earnings and PAYE to complete the questions.
6: you will now know if you owe money or get a refund, if its a refund request a personal tax summary. If you owe money do nothing.
7: Now if you need a refund, click "get it done online" and request personal tax summary. Here is a link if you can't find it.
Request a Personal tax summary (by service name)
you may request any period back to 2003. Remember once you do this, you are committed to a refund OR OWE MONEY!

8: if you request a personal tax summary and get a refund of over $200 you must call the info express number to confirm the refund. (an extra step to slow the process of getting money back)
If you owe money on your tax summary they send you, you MUST pay it!!

P.S its best to give them your bank account number as you get the money faster. I have always received a check in the past because I think you have to ring up to give them bank account numbers (last time i remember the lady on the phone couldn't be stuffed entering my bank account details)
Just read all of this and sussed it out today. Not hard

Re: TAX Refund..

If it shows this
Date Details Debit ($) Dr Credit ($) Cr Balance ($) 01 Apr 2007 Assessment 153.29 153.29 Cr 12 Jun 2007 Refund to 153.29 0.00
does it mean I've already done my refund for that year?
Edit: I fuked it up by trying to delete my account no. but hopefully you get what screen I'm talking about.

Only if you remove the tax portion from your pay before you see it... wouldn;t want the military to get done for double dipping

I remember getting last years one and one before that but I always had a feeling I missed a year in between. I guess not since it shows I recieved it for all of the last 5 years .
