never driven there before.

whats a realistically driving time to get there (legally)?

It seems to be 500kms approx, but i doubting it would take around 5hrs??

Re: Auckland to gisborne driving time?

8 hours last time I went, although that was in a hired Toyota Previa, mum was driving though so only after 2 speeding tickets did we start slowing down...

Maybe some truck drivers may know???

Re: Auckland to gisborne driving time?

Gisborne is about 3.5 hours from Whakatane (well it was the last time I went?) and it takes me 4 hours to do Whakatane to Westmere (Tims house actually). So 7.5 - 8 hours is about right.

3.5 hours Ben? Dam did u go around the coast lol. Adam is right its about 6-7. Usually around 4-4.5hours from Tauranga to Gizzy. The Opotiki to Gisborne road is the good part of the trip with all the bends and hills etc.

The gorge is awesome. Touge Gorge!! lasts for ages.. Cant remember the name. Sucks if you get stuck behind a ignorant fart with a caravan or something with traffic coming the other way

Wises Maps: New Zealand Street maps, directions and businesses

It will give you a maximum time it should take.

Normally pretty accurate.

5.5-7 hours done it a lot of times now

no problem with traffic usually except for people that drive slow and dont use the slow lane/bays

Last time I went we were in the truck, distorted perception of speed when the driver can do the gorge in one brake application.
