| Senior Member 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | Boy sees mother robbed, run over An 8-year-old boy watched as his mother was assaulted then run over by her attacker in a vicious street robbery yesterday. The 39-year-old Asian woman was in a critical condition with serious head injuries in hospital last night. She and her son had returned to their van in the Manukau City Shopping Centre carpark after shopping when she was attacked just after 3.30pm. Police said a man reached into her vehicle and stole her handbag from the central console. He ran to a white four-wheel-drive vehicle with the woman chasing him. As he drove away, the vehicle smashed into the woman. Witnesses said the vehicle left at speed towards the Manukau City Chambers, along Putney Way away from the Manukau City Centre. Foodtown worker Josia Faalave, 17, said horrified colleagues saw the attack and told how the woman refused to let her bag go. "[My colleague] said they backed up and drove over her. She was left on the ground when they drove off. "The boy was just standing there, crying and screaming." A Manurewa woman lent a tarpaulin to people helping the victim to keep them dry. "She was lying totally lifeless, there was blood gushing out of her ear pretty profusely. It was the saddest thing I've ever seen in my life," she said. "The little boy was distraught. Oh his poor little face, it broke my heart." About seven family members turned up to comfort the boy, she said. "I broke down in tears when I saw them, they looked so upset. I've had a gutsful of this crime. I want them caught and shot. We've had enough murders and everything else." The incident is the third brutal attack in little more than a week in South Auckland, after the fatal shooting of liquor store owner Navtej Singh and the brutal assault that claimed the life of 80-year-old Yang Yin Ping. Inspector Gary Hill, from the police northern communications centre, said witnesses at the scene were last night helping police and surveillance footage was being reviewed but detectives wanted anyone else who saw the incident to contact them. The victim's son was being cared for by relatives last night. Manukau City councillor Daniel Newman said he was lost for words after the third "despicable" crime in nine days. "What we are seeing is the brazen antics of a few low-life scumbags who are committing crimes against the person, and also against a community which just does not need it." Mr Newman said Manurewa, where the other two attacks took place, and the wider Manukau community were focused on improving living standards. "And we are getting there, but there's a very small element which has seen fit to try to desecrate that work." The shopping centre and carpark would have been busy at that time on a Monday afternoon, said Mr Newman, and he urged anyone who saw the attack to "help bring this dangerous man to justice". Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination on Mrs Yang has confirmed that she died of a "significant physical assault". The octogenarian died in Middlemore Hospital on Saturday after suffering internal injuries, including broken ribs, in a home invasion on Wednesday. Boy sees mother robbed, run over - 17 Jun 2008 - Alanah May Eriksen FFS at 3.30pm, seems like they don't give a shit about the consequences to do this in broad day light. We used to live around Manakau and use that shopping center a lot, as I'm sure a lot of you still do... Just imagine if it happened to someone you know...I feel if this keeps going there's going to be some vigilante justice... |

I am worried about their safety after they finished work. Think about the mental trauma to the boy and his HUMAN RIGHTS. Damn i don;t know what to say now.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if crime statistics went through the roof in the next few months. The worst part is, there is very little we are legally able to do to protect ourselves.

It seems like the cours these days would prefer to see you in hospital, beaten up with no car/wallet/cellphone, than see the offenders in hospital after you fought back... I wish this country was more like SA... someone tells you they want your car, and you pull out a gun and shoot the bastard.

Since the dude killed a chinese woman, let's give him the chinese torture, "cut of a thousand pieces." slowly cut away his nails, then fingers one by one in small pieces till he bleeds to death, and make it a public display, it sure hell works overseas! Or We could tie him to the ground and drive his jeep starting from his feet, knees and slowly crush him from bottom to top. No but really, if this lowlife is white, this kid will grow up with a hatred on whites, if he was brown, this kid is going to grow up hating browns, and thats how the hate starts.

I think the government needs to get in there and do something, we need a justice system that will put fear back into criminals so that this sh*t stops!! Condolences to the family. |

| Senior Member 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | Re: Boy sees mother robbed, run over The thing is about cops able to have guns around is that if a person gets shot by the cops, everyone is just going to blame them. I think the tazer idea is good. But i reckon the main thing to do is to make penalties harsher. If they know what the consequences are, then crimes will decrease. Money is also a big issue.

add armed forces, it will add security, but as u saw with the shooting, criminals do have gun, a .22 calibre to be exact. and as they showed on the raid at the killer beez house, they found stolen weapons 2. so this will have tention between police armed forces and criminals and possible gun wars, drive bys etc etc etc, u cant really stop these kind of things, but u can work hard to bring the numbers down.

Location: Auckland | Re: Boy sees mother robbed, run over Sad thing about this is it's classed as bag snatch .. not robbery (until somebody gets hurt or there's violence involved) There's been a huge rise with bag snatching on vulnerable middle aged Asian women recently - as they are seen as easy targets that carry a lot of cash around. I've told this over and over to all my female friends - just give them the freaking handbag - it's not worth losing a life or limb over defending a designer bag or whatever cash you have in it. Problem with these incidents however (and I have dealt with quite a fair number of these bag snatch incidents) is the police rate them as fairly low level crime and consider it an "insurance" incidents where if you have home and contents insurance the insurance will cover you. Majority of these crimes are also committed by stolen vehicles or vehicles with stolen registraion plates - so having a plate or rego is hopeless - even if you happen by chance to come across somebody dumb enough to do it in their own vehicle (non stolen - as I've come across three times) - each time the police are hopeless at catching the perpetrators - I've yet to come across a case where proper description, and non stolen registration plates were given to the cops that have resulted in a successful arrest and prosecution - I am sorry, but the reality is Countries Manukau police are overworked and overloaded and are hopeless at prosecuting low end crimes. I don't see the perpetrators being caught in this one, nor the 80 year old that got killed recently in her home.

There is always the "they may be innocent" factor that cunts draw in... and if an innocent person is tasered there will be a Campbell Live segment on it, creating a nationwide movement against Police with weapons, and the so-called victim will end up getting a nice Government reparation for their "trauma".

Alas, like our power system, New Zealanders tend to get settled in at a comfortable level, but when it all turns to shit we really have no way of coping.

I personally think the issue with the NZ justice system lies in the very core level - the educational level. You wouldn't believe the sort of things that get taught in NZ law schools on criminal justice. I am not surprised with the sort of legislations that get suggested and passed at parliament when it's being recommended by products of NZ law schools. It's not a PC issue, but an issue of what is considered to be the core qualities of a NZ justice system - unfortunately it's human rights not victim's rights.
