Re: iPhone 2.0

I don't think you can beat VoIP for call quality. My mate who works at Telecom was trialling it, and called me on my cellphone and the call quality was unbelievable as compared to being called by any other phone I have been called by - landline or mobile. What was funny was the number that showed up on caller ID, haha, was half a billion digits long.

And.. this is why everybody in the United States has an iPhone. It's always been Apple's strategy - razor thin margin, huge volume, market dominance.

I'm not ruling out getting one in the future but I gotta admit, you're going to have a sour taste in your mouth once you see everybody sitting around a food court swiping their thumb across their phone to unlock it...

The iPhone is a piece of shit, and so is your face.

Apparently Apple have said it won't be over US$199 in any of the 22 markets to get it first (us included) so it will be interesting...

Gotta love Apple for that though really, fuck the retailer, only slightly molest the consumer.

I have to hand it to them for standing up to record companies wanting to charge more than $1 per song on iTunes, and if they really do is Moclov said and make it a locked price in all markets, then awesome.

For sure, will be interesting to see what data plans VFNZ decide to offer with the phone.

Re: iPhone 2.0

Minus what ever contract plan costs are, this will be the cheapest smart phone on the market.

That'll be on some wanker plan though, and from the reading i've just been doing, it doesn't sound like you'll be able to buy it with out one, which is a bit gayness.

Yeah, I doubt that'll be anything special either.

Roll on July 11th.

you can't really compare prices like that. Think about it this way, how much are they worth on Trademe or PI?

Surely Apple would have come to an agreement about all this before granting Vodafone the rights to the phone? If data is prohibitively expensive, it reflects badly on Apple as well as Vodafone.

INPHAMISTICS: Yes the current iPhones are near $1000, but that's because they were never released here so PI can charge whatever they want... When the 3G version is officially released here, Vodafones price will dictate how much PI can charge. And from what I've read, your $1300 suggestion is waaaaaay over the top

With a global price point set by Apple it does allow you to compare in that method.
The reason PI can get away with selling previous gen iphone for a grand is because there was no local market with an RRP set, along with the good ol supply and demmand.
