LOL- Hong Kong Scam, have you got a call yet?

So recently, well last week I got a innocent normal servey call from hong kong, they called themself some asia tech thing and said she just wanted a few servey questions regarding mobile phones. Fine I thought, 2 min later it was done.

yesterday a lady called, asked me if I went to this asiatech event in nz, to which I asked, where? and she couldn't quite tell me where, said it's a "tech centre" in auckland.

Anyways she tries to chat up ask if I'm married etc and tried to be very friendly, then came the funny part..YOU HAVE WON 15miiliiionnn dollerrrssss. To her surprise I was like..oh..ok.

Then she said because she want to make sure I wasn't one of their staff and I was the Genuine Mr Lin who won the 15 MIILLLIONNN DOLLLERRRSSS. they need my id, passport number and bank account and money will be in with 60min to 2 hrs.
so I said ok sure..gave her a fake license and fake bank account (i made one up) I said i am in the Aotearoa bank account number 6969654-00-223232 LOL, then said my name was Erica Lin.
Well just to get off the phone nicely, and so quickly googled and wala
and oh I realised her strong chinese accent too btu she said she is pure hong kong and how it's such a great place..no she ain't cantonese thats for sure.

*edit* cos i had a person ring up and start speaking in chinese / something else (all seemed a little suspect on the phone) and then all of a sudden when i said.. HUH? what. the hell speak english.. and in perfect english they said.. oh.. you dont speak chinese/ whatever the language was i like.. hell no.. they then say i cant speak english sorry.. all sounded dodgey as to me..

first call i had was last month i thought it was another annoying one of those calls, so I went huh huh? what? huh? what are you saying? what? then she hung up, last week my work mobile rang so I picked up and stupid me I replied in chinese..#!%!#$@!%!@#@!

but hell it's fun.
I'm having fun reading all these blogs by people who's been called, some guy even gave the name of fark your mum vagina in hokkien(malaysia) and the lady accepted it LOL.

I'm just thinking what I can do with this lady, so far she is waiting for me to give her my bank acc coz I told her that I wasn't sure about my bank acc number as I'm at work LOL.

Now that you mention it, I got a call on my work phone last week from a female speaking Chinese, she just kept saying Wai (sp). I said I don't speak Chinese a couple of times then she just hung up.

If you get a call from Hong Kong just say:

"Deng! Lei gor fai dieu lei lo mo ge chow hai!" (sp)

Response should be pretty hard case, followed by

*click* doooot doooot doooot doooot

Love the Hokkien, my wife had a call like this and just rattled off a whole bunch of stuff (she speaks Cantonese and Mandarin as well). I'm starting to learn a bit and I was like "OMG who was that!?!" and she said "just some chee bai (c**t) wanting a wife"

I'd say they have insiders within the Chinese community? You can generally get details through social engineering pretty easily - based on your initial details they search around, find your details on here, find you work for Honda - they call Honda and say "I need to get ahold of Eric afterhours today regarding the sale of a new Legend, I was in with him on Tuesday, can I please have his mobile number as my wife wants the car within the next week?"

funny thing is, this lady made it almost legit, sounds like she was in a very busy office, and her phone rang twice while speaking to me and she'll be saying things like "...yes yes Hi Chen manager! no my manager is not at work yet." and " Oh yes Mrs Peng! the money has been transferred!!" and she'll get back to me and go..that was one of our 4th prize draws! she won $20000!! not as lucky as you! lol.

Quite funny how she didn't even know there was a timezone difference between hk and nz, she said howcome I'm working so early? what 10:30? early?


I think i'm a wait till she gives me her bank account to deposit "transfer insurance" money into then see what bank it is and get that bank busted. or I'll transfer 1 cent (can i?) and wait for them to call me.

2 of my friends have recieved this call.....after she call....said u win xxxxxxxus dollar....ask u to go the function...if u didnt go...she call u again and said u win the price...ask u to go a website with login id and password and the site will show ur name on price list....ask u to deposit $ into the bank account first and said it's for the lawyer free....( we try to play around, try both login and it show different name on second price..hehe)...and we check the address show on the site.....wtf....the street is not long enough and dont have that street number......so funny...

they also call me serval time.....the most funny thing is...

P.S they're most likely chinese e.g. from China...... most of the people in Hong Kong still speak cantonese even tho HK is part of China now..

lol My mum got a phone call like that, She thought they were speaking Taiwanese because her ex husband had just gone over there when the day before the huracain.

She thought It might of been them ringing saying that he had been killed, They rang 3 times first time just speaking in another language, Then they hung up. Then again and they said you win 15 mill. so she hang up. Then again trying to get her details.
