Whats A Good Camera? for around $500?

Whats A Good Camera? i prolly have about $500 max?

think its time to upgrade the cheap hundy job one that doesnt really let u take photos past 4pmish (well if u do it comes out dark like its midnight or something) it even has a night mode which if u move in the slightess it blurs like your spining around of something

so after a camera that you can take photos anytime that will turn out fine and it must be able to record sound

canon ixus 70 is a good camera. They were actually selling for $200 - $220 but have gone abck up to $300. Dick smith has them.

7mp, 3x optical zoom, small size.

you don't need to spend 500 to get a good one nowadays.

My gf just bought an Olympus FE340 last week - I havent used it much but she says it kicks ass. She loved the Olympus FE280 and this is supposedly an upgrade of that

If you wanted something with lots of memory without having to use a memory card - spanky just bought a Sony DSC-T2 - comes with 4gb of onboard memory

Do you want something slim to fit in your pocket or something bigger with some manual features?

Canon IXUS 70 or 75 is great for smaller cameras.

A more advanced camera would be the Canon PowerShot S5IS

Wat sorta camera did you wanna consider?
Big and meaty, or small and girly?

Big and meaty under $500 id be looking at getting a Fujifilm S5700.
Bang for buck you get 7.2MP 10x Optical Zoom, Solid Camera Casing, ISO rating 1600, Takes 4x AA Batteries, Dual Media XD/SD Cards, Face Detection (which means rather than having your dog the focal point of the foto coz the camera cant realise where its trying to focus, it will single out your girlfriend and focus in on her instead. Disclaimer: wont work if your mrs is a mutt!)
Myself i have a S5600, one under this camera but the photo quality for a non slr camera is a amazing, ill post some pics up once im back on my other PC.

Just recently went to a Sony camera training seminar, some of the new cameras they have recently realeased are amazing and havea few cheesey features within the software.
Ones the smile shudder, where the camera senses when a person isnt smiling and will only take the photo when certain focal points of the face adjust. Also within the software your able to semi photoshop the pictures to suit yourself ie: Taking a group foto and one person isnt smiling, you can focus on that one person and change there face so that they are smiling.

Sonys software is great but bang for buck take a look at the S5700, see if its you and from one already happy customer you wont be disapointed
