SBW has been with the doggies since hes 16, they've spent alot of time and money on the guy help him get to where he is today. And by turning his back on the club it just shows total lack of respect. Aparently he wasn't happy there...all he had to do was sit down with the club and work things though - come to come sort of agreement. If I was the boss of the Dogs, and one of my star players walked out one year into a five year contract I'd be highly fucked off too. The IRB can't stop the guy playing Club Rugby in France, they do have a say over International Selection though. But for such a lack of respect towards the code, the team and the fans... I reccon he should have a life ban from the NRL - make an example of him before more players try the same. IMO the games had enough bad publicity latley

He said the most disapointing thing about making his decision was that he couldnt explain to all the kids/fans exactly why he was leaving rugby league. the sport he has had nothing but whole hearted passion for all his life. even one of the boys who works for me used to play league with him at marist up in aucks when they were school boys. he is league hard. it obviously runs real deap, more deep then we will probably ever know. but i can see why he would do it. Salary cap on rugby league is rediculous. how is it ever supposed to grow right down to the grass-roots if at the top level they are saying "we dont want anymore money bought into the competition via team sponsors blah blah whatever... " NZRL announced its $1million dollar loss last year or something along those lines, and due to that fact batercard cup competition and waicoa bay league competitions were flagged, thats a sign for the slow death of rugby league... going to get even worse if the people at the top dont do something to keep the superstars in the sport. honestly, if you got paid more to play tiddlywinks youd be all over it like white on rice.. |
