Aside from the odd dead roo that happens to wash up, what on earth is a snake that size supposed to catch/eat on a steep rocky cliff face? Hardly seems like an ideal habitat for a large predator that would be catching suitably large prey.

This eRumor is mostly a picture but includes commend that it was taken in Western Australia. It shows a large snake hanging from the side of a rock face and trying to pull what looks like a kangaroo from the water.

The Truth:
According to a posting on the ABC Far North Queensland web site this picture is of an Olive python and he's trying to pull a wallaby or a wallaroo from the water below.

The picture is said to have been taken by a hiker named Jody who said the python tried for about an hour to lift the animal from the pool but finally gave up.

That was before i found the thing that identifies it as an Olive Python

And some more research reveals a type of Olive Python known as the Pilbara Olive from the Pilbara region in Western Australia.

The other subspecies, the western or Pilbara olive, is restricted to the Pilbara region of Western Australia. They can grow to an enormous size with Dr Rick Shine reporting specimens up to 6.5 metres!

True, I guess the snake is "legit", but I'm still not sure about the photo, still has a kinda chopped look to it IMO.

I love snakes. I even got to cuddle up to one at Australia Zoo in the Beerwah Mountains, awesome wee thing (by "wee" I mean 12ft long).

If it's a wallabty then the snake might only be about 14-15ft long.
