Fat Bastard Needs Help!

Question: Does anyone have any secrets or tricks for losing weight and shaping up that doesn't involve vomitting, surgery or major amounts of money? I'd like to lose about 8-10kgs for my wedding in a few months so I don't look quite so porky.

It used to be really easy when I was younger, in fact I struggled to put weight on.
*waits for looks of shock from those who have met me to fade*
These days tho I have trouble losing more than a couple of kilos.

I'd especially like to reign in my wayward stomach - ironically, too many years drinkin' beer have hidden my six-pack (yes, I actually used to have one...). Has anyone tried one of the milllions of ab-toning machines that actually works?

Any help would be appreciated.

Read the "Body for Life" book. Go to the gym for an hour, 4 days a week, play rugby training for 2 nights, and play rugby on one night. Kill Carbohydrates, and eat mainly protein, drink only water.

Dont eat crap like chocolate bars and chips and ice creams, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables.

Follow that and I'll gurantee you will lose weight, if you pick your balls up off the ground stop fucking around talking about it, and actually do it.

It can be done.

I lost 10 kgs in one week matt. Mind you all I was eating was , 4 toast for breakfast, jam and what ever else I could find.

1 sandwich for lunch and a couple of pies or some pigs in a blanket for dinner.

And drank shit loads of water!

Cheers

its already been stated, but yeah, best advice is sign up at the gym. that way you can tell them your goal and they'll put you on the appropriate programme.
if you're loaded, you can also get yourself a personal/motivational trainer, coz lets face it...it all boils down to motivation.

if you only want to lose weight do cardio exercise for 45mins 6 times a week, watch the fat content of everything you eat, stop eating chips and shit, drink only water or pure fruit juice

it'll work if you keep at it for a few months

gyms all very well...but sometimes it doesnt make u loose..infact you can gain, with the fact muscle weighs more than fat.

walk every day, building up the length and speed of the walk, and eat vegetables, lots of water, and minimal to no shite food....it will take time and commitment...but everything does....

*goes off for her walk*

You are right in stating that muscle weighs more than fat. Going to the gym doesn't make you gain weight if you are a fat bastard, which Matty clearly stated in his topic. You should really take things in context next time.

You say walking is good? I highly doubt that walking is better than hard out gym work. Walking IS better than nothing tho.

I think swimming's a good one, if you're into that sort of thing. It's hard work, works all major muscle groups, there's less stress on your body and joints (the water supports your body, so your joints don't have to absorb the shock of your foot hitting the ground) than gym work or walking / running etc. 3 - 4 times a week, about an hour doing laps if you can keep yourself going, it works wonders for cutting down fat

And like the others said, cut the junk food! No fast food, chips, chocolate etc. And Coke's a shocker too. Drinking more water, eating more veges / fruit, speeds your metabolism up a bit and helps you lose the kilos

Good luck man - and stick to it! It's your big day, you wanna be proud you've made a difference.

Fitness

* mediun weights with high reps will help tone and tighten those unwanted skin . heavy weights will build muscle under the fat thus making u look fatter. No, fat does not turn into muscle
* run every morning or as much as possible (empty stomach) for 20-30 minutes. Dosent matter how far u can run, just as long as ur sweating and nearly dead when u get hm. Not much point running at night.

Food

* As the lads said, "cut back on carbs" but the harder u push ur self the more carbs u need or u will be burning muscle.
* VEGES, WATER, VEGES, WATER, VEGES, WATER, VEGES, WATER
* Starve FAT, eat more protein like meat and egg whites.........mmmmmmmmmm.......egg whites
* eat lots of little meals and less big meals. people tend to pig out when their hungry......thats a NO NO
* buy protein shakes (bout $90 for a big 1.5kg)
If u have the bling bling, i suggest u look at EAS MYOPLEX.
* when u get hungry and dont have time to make a meal, do not snack and take a protein shake.

TIPS

* fat count is BS, just beause it has 1g of fat doesnt mean its LOW IN FAT or 99% FAT FREE. it will all add up in the calories.
* there are loads of good FATS like from fish. These will heap burn fat faster. 8)
* FRUITS are carbs - Go easy
* Supplements are not necessary but will help speed up process.
* work out wif a mate so u keep to ur schedule and not pik out when u get tired.
* measure ur achievement, the more u change, the harder ur work for success.

My $0.000000001

month of eating fuck all and walking sometimes = like 10kg's lost

yeah, as most people have said, the only thing that is really truely going to work is regular excercise. trust me! im a rower. and watch your diet! not saying that u need to starve yourself, just eat healthily. yeah, joining a gym is probably the best way in your situation unless you have a sport or something you'd like to get back into doing or something. Basically youi need to be motivated to do some regular excercise so think of ways you can do this, ie personal trainer or joining some kind of team sport.

another 1 that a nutritionist told a mate was to eat more during the morning / day then less at night than normal, something to do with burning it off during the day rather than it accumulating at night?
im not sure if that applies if youre not doing lots of physical exercise all day though

and as lauR said, physical exercise; you can have my job as a lawnmower if you really want!
