| In my honest opinion it's pointless buying cheap ones. The cheaper ones i've had experiences with lack in range, give off countless false alerts, and prefer to alert you to the location of service stations and automatic doors than cops. There are a few exceptions, but i'd wait til you have the money and get a Bel RX65 or V1. My 2c. |

| Senior Member 5,000rpm (VTEC Power!) | well the cheapest way is don't speed and that I agree Don't buy cheap ones as I've had a cheap one which beeped at vertually every bank, save up for a decent brand would be worth it.

Location: Auckland | the cheap ones are good for the sake of saying "look at me, i got a radar" the expensive one dont do much either because buying them is the same as paying for a few speeding tickets unless you drive reeeeeel fast(in which case you won't have time to slow down to 100kph). |

Location: Christchurch | You'd be just as well off putting a box of donughts in your front windscreen - get pulled over and bribe them. I have seen these put to the test and "early warning" isn't anywhere near enough. And yea, easiest way is not to speed - as "instant on" will fuck anyone with a radar detector.

Location: Christchurch | i think the cheaps ones are better in the way that they false at everything thereby causing you to watch your speed more. but my pick would be a bel sti xr over a v1 ![]()

Location: New Plymouth | Because you can't get the RX65 anymore (over 65% of them had issues) Get the XR950 (I think it's called) - Turn off "Ka" Band, Police in NZ I believe don't use "Ka"... Only "K" I never get a fulse signal with my XR950 (used to have a RX65 till it faulted) Difference between XR950 and RX65 is that the XR950 is apparently built for Australia and NZ only... Very good radar!! You will find with most they will just stay beeping all the time thru town (like my mates who's actually started beeping AFTER he passed a cop.. We told him he should turn it the other way round Lol )Like everyone has said.. When it comes to radars you get what you pay for... Might as well invest in a good one unless you want the pritty display just to look gangster! Go Bell! |

![]() And they say they're built for Aus and NZ because they have the American/European bands turned off. That's the only differences. And as for beeping after the cop - some cops turn their radars off and on. | |
