Location: Masterton | iPhone Well it is official, the iPhone was officially released by Jobs at the annual Macworld Expo in San Francisco. Jobs described it as the "magical device" that would "revolutionise the industry"! Apple iPhone website ![]() Overview iPhone combines three products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. iPhone also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers. So it ushers in an era of software power and sophistication never before seen in a mobile device, completely redefining what you can do on a mobile phone. Technical Specifications Screen size: 3.5 inches Screen resolution: 320 by 480 at 160 ppi Input method: Multi-touch Operating system: OS X Storage: 4GB or 8GB GSM Quad-band: (MHz: 850, 900, 1800, 1900) Wireless data: Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) + EDGE + Bluetooth 2.0 Camera: 2.0 megapixels Battery: Up to 5 hours Talk / Video / Browsing, up to 16 hours Audio playback Dimensions:115 x 61 x 11.6mm Weight: 135 grams ...So who's going to be getting one when the (eventually) hit NZ? |

Well I might consider one at the end of the year. I currently have a Treo 650 but no iPod/portable music/video player so I may look at ditiching the Treo and going with the Apple. Only advantage of the Treo is that it is MS Office compatible which is VERY useful for work...

I'll be sticking with Microsoft Smartphone based devices for now though. Integration with work email is still the key feature I need.

Location: Hastings | $US599 for the 8GB model, which is $NZ878. I'd say it'd go for $899-999 to start with. Btw, try as I might I haven't killed my Nano yet. I have no idea what's on the screen after standing on it, but I haven't killed it...

| Member 700rpm (Idle) | I would defiantely buy one of these. I always have my ipod and cellphone with me so if I can combine them together then that is even better, cut down on the shit I have to carry. And if its 900 - its expensive but it is an ipod (500ish) and a phone so I guess it aint too bad. It does help that I have a work sim card and dont pay for any calls/txts I make. |

Has anyone actually taken a look at the demos on the apple website, this thing is gonna change the whole market, I think that it is brilliant. Remember this is the first version, wait for the smaller and higher capacity for more music. This shits on my brand new 3G nokia, and I love Nokias

Kinda gutted it doesn't have a bigger MP camera on it, but if it's high enough quality, I'll get over it.

Location: North Shore City | There is debate about EDGE being 3G or not. It can provide 3G speeds, but it's not true 3G. Personally I think the actual phone rocks. Sure it lacks a little in the features department (2MP camera) and it will be expensive, but it's Apple, and nobody does shit as cool as Apple.
