Juice Ad

Has anyone seen that Charlies juice ad where he mentions another juice product while talking to a *cop*. I know your not allowed to mention/display other brands in ad's so how is he doing it?
Is he just going to do it until the other products catch him? Or has he found a loop hole in the law?

yea.. but he isnt stating an EXACT brand... ie he isnt saying its better than Keri... etc.. if it doesnt say an exact brand.. then you can do anything/ push the boundaries ...

this info came from someone i know who used to do advertisments

I heard that he bought Phonix or something like that. But yeah he was addressing it sort of like " Now with Mc Koy Juice they have added flavor added colours......"

I thought you could mention other brands, as long as all of the information you said about it is correct :?:

he mentioned simply squeezed juice, and listed the ingredients in their product, then compared this to charlies which only has squeezed juice in it.

it seems like bullshit to me comparing products on tv like that, but it is up to the other companies to complain not us, why should we care?

yeah im sure u can mention "about" other brands as long as the information is correct; just like the visa ad where they compare with american express "its accepted in more places yada yada..."

There's a series of 4 or 5 commercials.
He does mention the opposing brand on more than one occasion, and he makes the packaging obvious

Pretty funny commercials. Pretty cheeky of Mark.
But go him if he's getting away with it

Advertisments are meant to push the boundaries... in this case it seems to have worked pretty well. In this case the ads have passed the "watercooler test" and by that I mean it's got people talking about the ads, therefore people are talking about the brand, therefore the brand is being subconsciencely (sp?) promoted. Job well done I say. Boundaries have to be pushed to get people to notice.

I can't say I've seen the ads but knowing Ellis they'll be good.

Nah they're pretty average aye, just Marc standing there with a juice box reading the contents and a police officer.

The one I saw he said that Mc Koy use tap water in their juice, don't know if he can get away with that, unless it's true 8O Charlies has to be the best tasting juice on the market though, love the apple and mango 8)

"Richard Symonds of Onehunga writes: "there are two charlies Juice adverts showing at the moment. The first compares CHarlies's pure product with one that contains additives including ascorbic acid. (additives bad, boo! hiss!). The otther advert compares a product jam-packed with additives with charlies, which contains nothing but pure squeezed juice and added vitamin C. (CHarlies great, hooray! Made even better by the vitamin C!). Bt hang on a minute. Isn't Ascorbic acid just another name for vitamin C?"

There we go. Couldn't be botherd with a link so i just typed it out

Yeah.. Subway have made ads about McDonalds burgers, Coke about Pepsi, it happens all the time, as long as you don't say shit like "Pepsi makes your children retarded, and if you don't have kids, gets you preggers" then you're fine.
